Gatao 2: Rise of the King Makes the audience close their eyes many times at the Balinale event

An international film event titled Balinale (Bali International Film Festival), was held again from September 24 to 30 2018 at Cinemaxx Lippo Mall Kuta and Plaza Renon. Right yesterday (26/09/2018), at Cinemaxx Lippo Mall Kuta, TETO (Taipei Economic and Trade Office) and the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan, collaborated with Balinale to market a Taiwanese film entitled 'Gatao 2: Rise of the King' by the director as well as actor Cheng-Kou Yen, who has successfully reached millions of box office tickets in Taiwan. The event began with a reception held at Aryaduta Bali, Kuta, which was attended by Balinale Founder, Deborah Gabinetti, Balinale Award Jury, Jeane Huang, and several representatives from TETO namely, Kendra Yung-Shoa Chen, as Director of the Press Information Division, and Kim Cho, as Secretary of the Press Information Division.

Previously, the Taiwanese animated film, "On Happiness Road" had also been screened a few days earlier. The animated film by director Hsin Yin Sung emphasizes the gentle impression of the history of Taiwanese society and humanities through the life story of the female lead character. The film is actually very different when compared to Gatao 2: Rise of the King which emphasizes more sadistic and full of fight scenes.

According to one of the judges at the Balinale Award, Jeane Huang, the film Gatao 2 itself is an adaptation of the real life of a character who was also a director who had joined a gangster association when he was young. Through this film, Cheng wants to show how the life of gangsters is cruel and not worthy of imitation.

“This film was worked on by the director and actor who had been a gangster when he was young. The title Gatao means Ruler of the North, which in the northern area of Taipei is a rich area and gangsters are scrambling to rule there. In the film, the title song "The Song of Sorrow" was chosen which depicts the life of the gangster itself. Cheng wants to show all of us that gangster life is cruel and not worthy of imitation, ”said Jean at the reception for the screening of the film Gatao 2: Rise of the King (26/09) in Aryaduta Bali, Kuta.
