If You Have Two Cats, This Feeder Will Make Your Work Easier

The bowl itself looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, like a room with an arch on top. It took my cats over a week to feel comfortable enough to put their heads under to eat, but when they realized they had to do this to open the lid of the bowl, they were fine. This card is the key to everything: it contains a microchip reader that reads the microchip implanted in your cat and only opens the lid for the animal that your program recognizes.

It is also very easy to program. Hit the button on the back with a cat face and plus sign next to it, move your cat close to the arch and voila. Your cat or dog doesn't even have to have their head completely under the arch for the lid to open. It is sensitive enough when your pet activates the microchip reader when sitting next to the bowl. If your pet does not have a microchip, SureFeed contains a collar with a microchip that you can program to recognize it.

There is also a training mode that will allow your pets to gradually get used to the lid once they enter the container. Each time you press the "cat in a cap" button, the cap closes gradually. Combined with placing treats on the mat in front of the bowl, it definitely helped my cats get used to the sound and movement of the lid whenever they wanted to eat something. However, you must first program the charger to recognize your cat.

If you have cats that are more intelligent than mine, they may try to move to the side or back of the food to slide the food when the other cat opens it. There are clear plastic protectors on either side of the feeder that act as a lock, and the lid itself creates a barrier as it is lifted from the bowl and retracted.

However, there is a gap between the side pieces and the open cover because the panels are not cut straight on one side. They are curved so your pet can grab one hand and eat. However, placing the feeder next to a wall in a corner or other strategic location should prevent your cat or dog from trying. I put the feeders next to each other and I have no problem, but my cats eat at different times too.

You can also go for the Connect version of these feeders, which plug into a separate hub that connects directly to your router. You manage the connection through an app where you can check the battery life of the feeders, adjust the scale to measure the weight of the feed for accurate feeding, and monitor how much and when your pet eats.

The only feature I didn't use often was the scale. If you weigh your pet's food before serving it, it will probably be more useful than I do. I use a good measuring cup. I am also at home all day so I can easily see which of my cats are eating and how much. But like all other parts of the SureFeed Microchip Pet Dispenser, this feature works very well. It would have been nice if the app could connect directly to the feeders themselves, but it probably would have increased the cost of the feeders.
