Best Smartwatches of 2020 you can get

Smartwatches are getting very trendy these days. And the numbers back this up. By 2021 smartwatch unit shipments are probably going to reach 81 million. In 2019 alone, Apple manages to sell more Apple Watches than the entire Swiss watch industry. Now even people who religiously wear mechanical watches are slowly coming around and buying a smartwatch.

Smartwatches are able to perform all kinds of things, like searching the web through your voice, tracking your exact location through GPS, or monitoring your heart rate. However, these features will only work best when they’re paired with an appropriate smartphone. As for models that work without a smartphone, they exist but are few and far between.

We’ve tested all kinds of smartwatches, both high and low-end. During our tests, we look at the design, battery life, features, specs, and price. We’ve selected three of the best smartwatches for our readers so that they don’t need to search for any obscure “best smartwatches 2020” list. Read further to find more about our top picks.

Huawei Watch GT 2

The Huawei Watch GT 2 is a beautiful smartwatch. It’s got a classic design usually seen on more traditional mechanical watches. We especially liked its smooth leather band.

Its battery life is pretty long, around two weeks to be exact. We actually managed to get more than 14 days after turning off some advanced features and rarely using the GPS.

The Watch GT 2 comes with a surprisingly loud speaker. It can be easily used to take phone calls through the watch, and even listen to some music. Huawei has added a local storage that allows to preload your favourite songs and go for a run without your smartphone.

This smartphone comes packed with features like:

  • Accelerometer
  • Gyroscope
  • Geomagnetic sensor
  • Heart rate sensor
  • Ambient light sensor
  • Air pressure sensor
  • Fitness tracking
  • Sleep tracking
  • Stress tracking

And that’s not all, Huawei has announced an SpO2 monitoring feature to measure blood oxygen levels. You can get it after updating the watch to the newest firmware.

All in all, the Huawei Watch GT 2 is great value for money. It has stunning external hardware, while its internal hardware runs efficiently. Pound for pound, it’s one of the best smartwatches on the market.

Huawei Band 3 Pro

If we’re talking just about the design, the Band 3 Pro is miles better than its predecessors. We suppose Huawei listened to some of your complaints and slimmed down the side bezels.

It’s got 0.95-inch AMOLED display, making it superior to all the smartwatches with PMOLED display. Its colours are also bright enough for outside use.

The Band Pro 3’s strongest feature is its sleep tracking. Its accuracy is on par or even better than Fitbit Ionic.

The promised battery life on this smartwatch is 12 days with continuous heart rate tracking and sleep tracking. Which is quite good and exactly what we got during our tests.

Overall, the Band 3 Pro is great smartwatch because of its low price, AMOLED display, GPS, heart rate sensor, and sleep tracker. Those who are on a budget should definitely check it out.

HUAWEI WATCH GT 2e

Our last spot goes to Huawei Watch GT 2e. This smartwatch has got almost all the fitness features of the Watch GT 2, but with a more sporty design and a cheaper price.

Its 1.3-inch AMOLED screen is big on the wrists and delivers lots of contrast. We had no issues using it outdoors on our daily run.

Its battery life is quite something. Wear OS and Apple Watches only last a couple of days while the Watch GT 2e has a 455mAh battery that lasts for at least two weeks.

The GT 2e’s got all the sensors you’ll need from a midrange fitness tracker. This smartwatch has a GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, and more. Also, it’ll easily keep a record of your travel distance, steps, resting and active heart rate, calories burned, stress levels, etc.

For those who are serious about their workouts, the GT 2e has 15 GPS-enabled workout tracking modes. These include cycling, climbing, running, swinging, and more. You can use these modes to get altitude details, calories burned, duration, heart rate zones, pace, etc.

Like the previous model, you can store music on this smartwatch as well. The Huawei GT 2e can store up to 500 songs and makes it easy to load them up.

There are also lots of different first-party watch faces available on the GT 2e. We counted at least 12, but only one of them was customizable. However, UK users get to download third-party watch faces while rest of the world can’t. Lucky us!

Anyway, for those who don’t want to splash the cash on the Watch GT 2, this model is a pretty good alternative. It’s cheaper and mostly offers the same features.
