This afternoon brought shocking news to DC fans when Warner Bros. announced that the previously announced announcement New Gods movie and the Aquaman spin-off The Ditch were no longer moving forward. The Hollywood reporter broke the news and with it offered some more information about other DC projects. Next year will be a significant one for the DC world of cinema, as WB has planned to release four movies in 2022 starting with The Batman in March, Black Adam in July, The Flash in November, and Aquaman 2 in December, and one one of them could preview what audiences will expect from the Justice League on the big screen.

Buried in its report, THR notes that "DC is plotting its movies and shows to share the same universe" and that its key to getting this out to the public will be in The Flash Movie. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise to DC readers considering Scarlet Speedster's penchant for multiverse storylines, but the exchange notes that the film will 'address the multiverse and is said to bring clarity to the future of the Justice League as well. ». They point out that not all of them are multiple Batmen ready to appear (Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton have teamed up thus far) with newcomer Sasha Calle also playing Supergirl.
 
Zack Snyder's recent Justice League success is sure to cause a bit of confusion regarding the superhero team. Despite audiences seeing the theatrical cut in 2017, the popularity of the extended version set up more stories and a team of heroes that are seemingly unexplored. Not only has DC shot down any bent from more Snyder films (the director himself has also said that is unlikely), but it is also unclear how Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck will be involved with their characters going forward.

It was previously reported that Cavill had been in talks with DC to have a new deal appear as Superman in various projects, but nothing confirming this has emerged since then, in fact it was reported earlier this year that a planned Superman cameo in Shazam. the sequel had to be removed. Also, Ben Affleck publicly retired from the role earlier, only to be convinced to bring The Flash back . In other words, that movie will have to do A LOT of heavy lifting to tell the movie being released what the plan is for the Justice League.

The flash is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 4, 2022.

Justice League Writer Confirms There Was No Creative Roadmap in Place for the DCEU Beforehand

Justice League writer Chris Terrio has offered new insight into how the early roadmap of the DCEU was established. According to Terrio, studio-mandated release dates, not story plans, dictated the release order of these DC movies.

That's one of the big takeaways in Vanity Fair's new interview with Terrio, who also scripted Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before effectively being shut out of the DCEU during the Justice League reshoots. According to Terrio, there was little effort to coordinate story plans between movies like Justice League, Wonder Woman and Aquaman, only a mandate to "conform to this schedule."

"[Kevin] Tsujihara, as far as I can tell, and the brass at the very top, decided the order of the films," Terrio told VF. "I was not consulted on the order of the films, even though I was the person writing Justice League. They just determined that it was going to be Batman/Superman, and then Wonder Woman, then Justice League, and then Aquaman. So there was never any thought to how the world was constructed before they issued this edict. They said, 'Conform to this schedule.'”

Terrio explained how that caused creative headaches while writing Justice League, particularly given the fact that he didn't have access to a completed Wonder Woman script.

"The Wonder Woman script wasn’t even finished when I wrote Justice League," Terrio said. "So I had no basis to write Wonder Woman other than Batman/Superman. Themyscira didn’t even exist. I was never shown anything on the page for it. I didn’t know whether people could talk underwater. That was a thing that I had to ask, because I didn’t know if I could do underwater scenes with Aquaman and Atlanteans. It was all just from scratch because there had been no [solo] character films."

Terrio continued, "So Justice League needed to establish three of the characters; it had to create a long game mythology for the DC Universe. It had to resurrect Superman because he was dead at the end of the last movie. I just don’t know how you could do all that in under two hours. Maybe the 2017 release proved that you couldn’t."

Terrio's comments certainly help explain some of the discrepancies between Zack Snyder's Justice League and Aquaman, including the drastically different appearance of Willem Dafoe's Vulko and the fact that Amber Heard's Mera has a British accent in The Snyder Cut.

Terrio also spoke out about his dislike for the original ending of Batman v. Superman, which was abandoned when he was brought in by Ben Affleck to rewrite the script.

This new interview comes right on the heels of another unflattering look behind the scenes at WarnerMedia. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ray Fisher accused Joss Whedon of threatening Gal Gadot's career and refusing criticism of his Justice League rewrites.

The sky is blue, water is wet, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League has led to a surge in viewership for HBO Max, causing WarnerMedia’s streaming service to experience the sharpest week-to-week rise in downloads across all of the major platforms.

Trying to determine ratings in terms of streaming is a tough nut to crack, especially when the big hitters like Netflix and Disney Plus only release numbers touting the success of their in-house originals as opposed to the full picture. Even then, the world’s most popular service estimates its numbers spread across the first four weeks a movie or TV show is available, while the Mouse House celebrated The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as its biggest premiere despite not providing any actual data, similar to how Amazon praised the success of Coming 2 America but didn’t back it up.

Even without sifting through mountains of data, it’s not exactly groundbreaking news to discover that the Snyder Cut has seen subscriber numbers, downloads and accumulated minutes watched increase exponentially. The all-new version of the DCEU blockbuster has been the talk of the town ever since it first arrived twelve days ago, and fans have been looping it on repeat to support the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse movement.

WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar recently claimed HBO Max had surpassed 41 million subscribers, and that was before Justice League exploded onto the content library, so a 60% increase with that sort of customer base indicates that the Snyder Cut has been even more popular than even the most optimistic of projections could have guessed. Whether or not it leads to the restoration of the SnyderVerse is a much trickier and altogether more loaded question, albeit one that the fanbase has made it abundantly clear they’ll only accept one answer to.

Director Joss Whedon was considered a scourge and was highlighted for his bad behavior. The harsh comments came from Justice League screenwriter Chris Terrio.

Terrio voiced after previously there was a Cyborg cast until Gal Gadot who did not cover Joss Whedon was a troubled director. Chris Terrio spoke about the Justice League film whose script he wrote.

The presence of Whedon in the production of this film when Zack Snyder left, he said, made the film ruined. The script was rewritten by Joss Whedon after he left Marvel working on Avengers: Age of Ultron.

He also accused Joss Whedon of doing massive damage in his involvement in the film.

"The film released in 2017 is an act of vandalism. Zack (Snyder) may be too polite to say that, but I'm not," said Chris Terrio quoted by Vanity Fair.

"When the original scene from the film was removed from the Justice League 2017 version, I was speechless because I didn't know what to say. The film should have been like a big, violent and threatening creature but it turned out the other way around," added Terrio again.

Watching the results of the film for the first time, Chris Terrio had asked that his name not be included in the credit title. But it was too late.

Knowing that there are now comments and criticisms from the actors about what Joss Whedon did at that time is enough to make the screenwriter relieved.

"It became clear when I spoke to the actors that it was a massive overhaul of what had been there before. I didn't hear from anyone who said the film production process was a pleasant experience," he said.

The 2017 Justice League film version drew harsh criticism. The film was considered a failure and brought losses to the Warner Bros. studio.

The studio estimates that it has suffered losses of up to USD 60 million despite gross revenue of USD 657 million.

Four years later, Zack Snyder's Justice League was finally released. The film is considered to make up for the failures achieved under the control of Joss Whedon.
