Things to consider while buying Safety Relief Valves

Located above its water heater. The cold line is always on the right. Open the hot water tap inside the house. Air pressure will come out of the tap. Temperature and pressure relief valves

The T&P valve should be checked twice a year to make sure it works. It is located in front of the water heater and has a small steel lever with open holes. Sometimes a pipe is attached to it. If it leaves a little water, but leaks, tap it lightly with a lever when it is down with a hammer. If it is still leaking, replace it. Gate Valve for Your Hot and Cold Lines

Consider installing a gate valve on your hot and cold lines. They make it possible to open or close the line. If you have a leak or flood emergency, it is much easier to turn off the water heater than the main pipe. Make sure you do not mix steel and brass in the joints here or the steel will corrode. If water ever escapes from the nut that pushes the handle on the gate valve, turn off the water and remove the nut from the threaded stem and wrap it with Teflon tape or use graphite packing material. This will pack the nut into the gate valve and prevent leakage. If you decide to put a gate valve, make it a ball valve instead of a turning mechanism type valve. You can see if the line is open or closed.

Drain Valve

The drain valve usually comes when you buy it from the manufacturer. They were made of brass. You should install a 3/4 ball valve on your water heater. There is a risk of plastic leakage. To install a brass ball valve, turn off the gas or electricity and open the faucet inside the house. If you have a cone-shaped valve, open it six times or more clockwise and pull it out at the same time. Rotate it clockwise while pulling it and it will come out. Wrap the Teflon on the water heater on the nipple. Now attach the ball valve. If you have a plastic drain valve that looks like a hose bib, remove it by replacing the valve completely. A little water may leak when installing a new valve, but not too much. Wear gloves to prevent drainage.

Cleaning the Combustion Room

For gas water heaters, you can separate the burner assembly from the water heater and clean it, and also clean the interior of the gas water heater. There are three lines running down from the gas control pilot. Turn off the gas by dialling the pilot. Removed all three lines from the gas control pilot. Now remove the front panel containing the burner assembly inside the water heater. Now clean the burner assembly with a brush and vacuum it from the inside of the water heater. Reinstall the burner assembly in reverse order to give it dissatisfaction. Spray some glass cleaner on all connections to see if there are any bubbles. If yes, you have a gas leak. Tighten the connection forward.

Inspect your gas water heater vent

The local pipeline code contains very detailed instructions for vents. If anything looks rusting or suspicious, call the gas company or plumber. Be careful that you do not have any backdrafting from the gas water heater. If gas fumes, which are exhaled from the vent and come out of the house, return home through a chimney, open window or air conditioning vent, you can repel the hazardous smoke in your home.
