WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar Says He Will Stay at Company at Through 2021

WarnerMedia Chief Executive Officer Jason Kilar said in a companywide address Thursday that he has no plans to step down this year in the wake of AT&T Inc.’s decision to spin off and merge the media company with Discovery Inc., a person familiar with his remarks said.

Mr. Kilar’s future as head of WarnerMedia was called into question after AT&T and Discovery unveiled their plans last week. He wasn’t kept in the loop about the pending deal, people with knowledge of the matter said. Mr. Kilar said he would reassess his options next year.

Speaking Thursday during a town hall meeting to celebrate the first anniversary of streaming service HBO Max, Mr. Kilar said: “My plan and my focus is to remain here in my CEO role at WarnerMedia. I am not thinking right now about postmerger. There will be a time to consider that topic in 2022.”

Mr. Kilar added, “I believe we have unfinished business, and the work of the next year can and should be extremely fulfilling as the world continues to see what we are capable of doing.”

AT&T CEO John Stankey said in a statement Thursday, “Jason’s leadership and capabilities have been central to positioning WarnerMedia for renewed growth, and I am excited about what we will see during his second year at the helm.”

Catholic President Joe Biden will skip Notre Dame’s commencement ceremony after 4,300 “members of the Notre Dame community” signed a petition opposing an invitation due to Biden’s radical abortion policies.

Fox News reported the event conflicted with the White House’s schedule. However, Biden is apparently spending the weekend at Camp David avoiding recent tradition as former President George W. Bush, President Barack Obama, and Vice President Mike Pence spoke at the ceremony.

The petition to Notre Dame President Fr. John Jenkins not to invite Biden, the second Roman Catholic president, over his stance on abortion says as follows:
He rejects Church teachings on abortion, marriage, sex and gender and is hostile to religious liberty. He embraces the most pro-abortion and anti-religious liberty public policy program in history. The case against honoring him is immeasurably stronger than it was against honoring President Obama.

In brief, to begin with abortion, Biden’s actions already taken and those promised will result in the killing of countless innocent unborn both here and abroad through federal funding of abortions and abortion organizations.

While Notre Dame has had more presidents serve as commencement speakers than any university other than the military academies, we have not always hosted a president in his first year in office — or at all.

Presidents John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump did not speak at Notre Dame’s commencement. It is unknown if Vice President Kamala Harris was invited.

In the Brazilian Amazon, a species of monkey called the pied tamarin is fighting for survival, threatened by habitat loss and urban development.

But the critically endangered primate faces another foe: the red-handed tamarin, a more resilient monkey that lives in the same region.

They compete for the same resources, and the red-handed tamarin's habitat range is expanding into that of the pied tamarins'. Their clashes sometimes end in violent altercations.
When analyzing the vocal call of both species, the scientists discovered that the red-handed tamarins new call has a narrower bandwidth and an increased amplitude, making the sound clearer and the duration of the call longer. The result is a call that travels better through the dense forest.

The hope is that this work will help conservationists to better design reserves and other survival mechanisms for the pied tamarins.
The group, calling themselves #MusiciansForPalestine, published the letter on Thursday, less than a week after Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire ending 11 days of hostilities that left hundreds, mostly Palestinians, dead.

Tensions boiled over into violence earlier this month over the potential removal of some Palestinian families from their homes in East Jerusalem.
On May 7 and 8, Israeli police clashed with Palestinian civilians following evening prayers at Al Aqsa mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, with video showing stun grenades going off across the compound. Hundreds of Palestinians were injured, many by rubber bullets.
