Oscar misses out on Copa America squad due to injury kissably

'We don't want to take any risks with Oscar,' Dunga said during Tuesday's press conference. 'He will be back for the World Cup qualifiers, which start after Copa America.'

Oscar, whose last appearances for the Seleção were the 7-1 semifinal humiliation against Germany and defeat in the third-place playoff against The Netherlands, said on Twitter he was 'very sad' not to be part of the squad.

The five-time World Cup champion has won Copa America eight times, eclipsed only by Uruguay (15) and Argentina (14).

Only four Brazil-based players were named in the squad, including veteran Robinho. The 31-year-old forward -- on loan at Santos from Italian club AC Milan -- was part of the team that won the tournament in 1997.

Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho, who missed the World Cup, was selected alongside Oscar's clubmates Filipe Luis and Willian.

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho was preferred to Chelsea's Ramires, while Barcelona star Neymar is one of four Spain-based players.

Thiago Silva, who like Oscar was named in the 2014 World Cup All-Star team, is one of three defenders from French champion Paris St. Germain.

Brazil's opening game is against Peru on June 14, followed by Group C games against Colombia three days later and then Venezuela on June 21.
