Benfica Women enjoying stunning season after 32-0 trouncing nixing

The recently-formed Benfica Women team has been ripping it up in the club's debut season, and last weekend notched its biggest win so far against bottom side CP Pego.

Brazilian Darlene bagged 10 of the goals, while fellow forward Evy Pereira scored seven in what was a record winning margin in Portuguese senior football.

The team, based in Lisbon, was formed as an offshoot of the decorated men's team and immediately attracted the services of a number of international players.

Attention now turns to Wednesday's cup tie against top tier side Maritimo.

'I was very proud of our players, they showed an exceptional attitude, dedication, commitment and they honored the jersey in the best way possible,' said coach João Marques after Sunday's thumping win.
