"Di tahap ini dokter akan mencari faktor risiko, seperti usia pria dan wanita, riwayat gaya hidup, pekerjaan, pernikahan, riwayat keguguran atau haid tidak lancar," katanya dalam acara temu media virtual, Rabu (10/3/2021).

Menurut Shanty, sebelum pasangan menempuh inseminasi dan bayi tabung (In vitro fertilization/IVF), dokter akan menyarankan untuk pasangan melakukan induksi ovulasi dengan senggama terjadwal.

"Induksi ovulasi merupakan terapi infertilitas menggunakan pengobatan untuk menstimulasi ovarium (indung telur) agar melepaskan sel telur (ovulasi)," katanya.

 Lebih jelasnya, Shanty mengatakan pada pada siklus yang tidak berovulasi, induksi ovulasi ini bertujuan untuk menyebabkanterjadinya ovulasi (setidaknya didapatkan 1 folikel dominan yangakan melepaskan sel telur yang matang).

Sedangkan pada siklus yang berovulasi bertujuan untuk menstimulasi ovariumagar melepaskan sel telur lebih dari 1 (2 atau 3 sel telur) pada 1 siklushaid sehingga dapat meningkatkan peluang kehamilan.

Penyebab gangguan ovulasi

Menurut Shanty, ada beberapa penyebab gangguan ovulasi seperti:

- PCOS (polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)

- Obesitas dan overweight

- Berat badan terlalu rendah

- Olahraga yang terlalu berat

- Stress psikologis yang tinggi

- Hiperprolaktinemia

- Gangguan fungsi tiroid (hipo maupun hipertiroid)

- Perimenopause

- Kegagalan ovarium dini (menopause dini)

"Induksi ovulasi dilakukan jika murni didapatkan gangguan ovulasi pada perempuan tanpa ada gangguan lain seperti saluran telur dan sperma, dikombinasikan dengan senggama terjadwal," katanya.
