Lionel Messi apparently already has two plans if he has to move from Barcelona next season. One of the 33-year-old's plans is to continue a career in the United States.
The future of Lionel Messi is currently in an important situation. Because, his contract with Barcelona will expire in June 2021 and there has been no discussion of a new contract.
Last September, the relationship between Lionel Messi and Barcelona got heated up. Messi asked the club to release him on a free transfer. However, Barcelona did not fulfill that request.
Lionel Messi wants to play in MLS
It is not difficult for Lionel Messi to find a new club if he leaves Barcelona. PSG and Manchester City are believed to have the financial capacity to pay Messi's very high salary.
Then, Juventus and Inter Milan are faintly said to harbor ambitions to use La Pulga's services. However, Messi is not the goal of those clubs if he later moves from Barcelona.
"I always say this, that I want to feel playing in the Major League Soocer [MLS]. But, it's not for now," Lionel Messi told La Sexta as quoted by Marca .
Early last season, Manchester City was said to have sent a five-year proposal to Lionel Messi. The proposal includes an option for Messi to play in New York City, the MLS club under the City Football Group.
Return to Barcelona
Lionel Messi has indicated that he will not retire as a player at Barcelona. However, after being no longer active as a player, the winner of the six Ballon d'Or titles will return to Barcelona for another role.
"I don't know if I will go [from Barcelona]. Go or not. But if I go, I want to go in the best way," said Lionel Messi.
"I want to come back to live in this city and work at the club. Barcelona is much bigger than any other player. I hope the president who comes will do everything well," hoped Messi.
