Sadako Ogata Merit Cum Means Scholarship

The Sadako Ogata scholarship is an effort by the Global Indian Education Private Limited through GIIS Tokyo to help parents finance their children's education. The scholarship is for students who are residents of Japan and is open to existing parents and the GIIS student fraternity. Additionally, students in the CBSE, CLSP. IB PYP, IBDP, and IGCSE syllabi can apply for the scholarship.

It is a two-year scholarship open to students from preschool to grade 12 and students in the IBDP program. There are seven categories, each with different values depending on the eligibility criteria.

• Category A – 25% off of tuition fees
• Category B – 13% off of tuition fees
• Category C - 11% off of tuition fees
• Category D - 6% off of tuition fees
• Category E – 4% off of tuition fees
• Category F – 3% off of tuition fees
• Category G – 2% off of tuition fees

Eligibility

• You must be a Japanese resident or a permanent resident 
• You must show proof of above-average academic performance for the past two years
• Parents must show an appointment letter proving their relocation to Japan less than a year ago
• Parents must show a tax exemption certificate if one of them is not working 
• Parents must show a self-declaration form for gross family income

Application process

• The application process for this scholarship is made online.
• The first step is to fill in the application form on the GIIS Tokyo website
• Upload all the relevant documents, including household income and others mentioned above
• Students then wait to be notified through email within ten working days
• The school will then assess all the applications and wait to be called for a one on one interview if necessary
• The successful students will then be selected and awarded the scholarship
