Automated External Defibrillator: What You Need To Know About These

The machine used is called Automated External defibrillator or AED. This is a device by which sending an electric pulse or shock to the heart, restores a normal heartbeat. It is where an arrhythmia is uneven or too slow or too rapid, is stopped or corrected. 

 

Defibrillators will also restart the rhythm of the heart if the heart stops abruptly. This device delivers continuous, safe, and efficient electrical stimulation to the heart's ventricular tissue to prevent ventricular fibrillation from occurring.

 

How Automated External Defibrillator Designed?

AEDs are designed to operate in two distinct modes, namely, pre-pulsatile and post-pulsatile. In the first mode, electrodes are applied to the chest to detect abnormal heartbeats. Electrodes are then attached to a battery pack and a generator for a period of time and then the electrodes are released. During the second mode, electrodes are placed on the chest and an AED is used to deliver electrical stimulation to the ventricles.

The first mode of AED is often used to control the progress of ventricular fibrillation when it has progressed to the point where it is potentially dangerous. However, in some cases, the device may also be used to treat other conditions. An AED defibrillator is used to treat people with ventricular fibrillation, cardiac arrest, congestive heart failure, congestive cardiomyopathy, and hyperthyroidism.

There are different types of AED available for sale. These include the following:

  • The first type is the automatic external defibrillators (AED) which is battery-operated. When the heart rate exceeds the normal levels, the AED applies the stimulation to the heart to reduce the intensity of contraction and then released, thus interrupting the heart rhythm.

  • The second type of AED is the battery-operated direct ventricular pacing device (DVP). This is commonly used to treat ventricular tachyarrhythmia. It can be used with or without external stimulation.

  • The third type of AED is called the Cardiac Arrest Ultrasound AED. This can be used to monitor the condition of cardiac arrest in patients who have suffered a cardiac arrest or who have had a heart attack. 

  • The fourth type of AED is called the electrocardiogram. This is commonly used to monitor the electrical health of patients who are at high risk of having a heart attack. It can be used to detect arrhythmias in its early stage and to determine the root causes of the arrhythmia. 

 

How AED Used According to Different Conditions?

The defibrillator that you choose depends on the condition that you require. This will depend on your age, the reason for your medical emergency, and the type of condition that you suffer from. 

  • If your condition is cardiac arrest, you might need a more sophisticated device than if your condition is that of congestive heart failure. You may also need an AED if your heart condition is hyperthyroidism and if you have high blood pressure.

  • If you need an AED for your cardiac arrest, your first step should be to consult with a doctor to find out if an AED is necessary. If you are suffering from cardiac arrest, the AED may not be needed and you could seek to stabilize yourself by taking medications such as niacin and calcium. 

  • To help increase your potassium. Another option is to use the cardio-pulmonary resuscitation device or CPR, which uses devices that are used to provide oxygen to your body and keep it going.

  • If you are suffering from ventricular fibrillation or cardiac arrest, you will need an AED to manage your condition. 

In most cases, an AED will be placed on the heart to stimulate the heart and stop the heart from collapsing. However, if the condition worsens you may need an AED that allows you to keep the heart pumping by delivering electric shocks to the heart to interrupt its normal function. In this case, a defibrillator is usually attached to your chest and is used to interrupt the flow of blood in your legs.

Depending on the condition of the heart, the AED will either provide a constant flow of blood or a flow that is measured by electrodes placed on the chest. For example, the CPR device will deliver a shock to the heart to stop the flow of blood if it fails to pump properly. and provide a continuous supply of oxygen to the lungs when the lungs fail to do so.

It is important that you know what type of AED you need before you buy one. An AED Defibrillator should be chosen wisely to ensure that it will work for the condition of the heart. Choosing an AED correctly can save your life. The most common types of AEDs are pacemaker shockers and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation devices. Although the cost of the AED may seem expensive, the price of the device will pay off in the long run, as it can prevent or even cure some serious conditions that require immediate care.
