The Center Lane, SK-II STUDIO's Debut Film: Inspiration to Keep Struggling and Trying
SK-II STUDIO's premiere film entitled THE CENTER LANE tells the true story of Rikako Ikee, Japan's national flagship young swimmer who is suddenly diagnosed with leukemia at the young age of 19, causing her steps to stop.

No half-hearted, SK-II STUDIO took the famous Japanese director, Hirokazu Kore-eda to make this short film. Kore-eda gives a touch of 'magic hands' in concocting THE CENTER LANE with a combination of real documentary and animation to take the audience through the thoughts, difficulties, emotions and hopes of the actor. Through a humanist approach that highlights the perspective of Rikako Ikee, this short film tells vividly how Ikee's struggles in dealing with this disease that had made him worse and his efforts to return to the swimming arena that he loved so much.

“It is at times like these that I want everyone to remember the importance of persevering, being unfazed and pursuing your own destiny. It doesn't matter if we can't go back to the past, because destiny is determined by our current actions. No matter what difficulties you face, I believe you can overcome them and change your future. " Said Rikako Ikee as she reflected on her year-long journey with SK-II and became part of SK-II's new #CHANGEDESTINY chapter.
