Chinese Association in England Charity in Chinese New Year 2021, Proven to Donate 6,600 Fortune Cookies

The Association of Chinese in Britain named Worcestershire Chinese Association (WCA) has donated 6,600 fortune cookies (fortune cookies), one for each member of staff at the three hospital locations in Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust, to smile and celebrate Chinese New Year in 2021 .

HJ Colston-Inge, the founder of Welfare for Healthcare who raised £ 10,000 in March last year for the hospital while sewing scrubs, is a member of the WCA, so donating Fortune Cookie eyebrows fortune cookies is meant to encourage the hospital workers.

"The WCA is unanimous in its response and is happy to support our local NHS by donating this Fortune Cookie ," he said.

He said: “I am touched to hear that many staff suffer from PTSD due to the ongoing Covid-19 challenge. Knowing that Chinese New Year 2021 is a time of hope for spring and the gathering of family and friends, it seems like the right message to find a way to ensure that staff at our hospitals know that they are truly valued and appreciated, ”he explained.

And hope that those highlighting the Chinese New Year festival might as well do the same.

Chinese New Year begins this year on Friday 12 February and falls on a new month in the Chinese Lunar Calendar and marks the beginning of spring.

Sophie Burt, Head of Fundraising of the Trust said, “A big thank you to our local Chinese Community and Welfare for Health Care for this wonderful contribution !,”.

According to Sophie, fortune cookies would be a very welcome treat for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust staff who can take them on their way through hospital restaurants and staff canteens ahead of Chinese New Year.

Association member support is greatly appreciated at what remains a very busy time across the Trust.

Fortune cookies will be given to each staff member through the restaurant and canteen or sent directly to staff teams starting this Friday.

The WCA will then host a free Chinese New Year festival online on February 21 on Facebook. ***

The number of train passengers in China is down 70 percent in Chinese New Year this year

Appeals issued by a number of provincial governments in China not to go home during the Chinese New Year holidays have been successful.

This is reflected in the decrease in the number of train passengers which reached 70 percent compared to last year's Chinese New Year holiday.

Quoted from  The Associated Press on Saturday (13/2/2021), China National Railway Group stated that from January 28, 2021 to February 11, 2021 they only carried 52.33 million passengers.

Last year, the Chinese railway company managed to carry 167.99 million passengers. Even though at that time Covid-19 had spread in Wuhan and there had been recommendations from the government not to go home after the regional quarantine was implemented in Wuhan.

Significant decline in the number of passengers on the Chinese New Year holiday which is commonly known as the Spring Festival occurred in several major cities.

In the past 15 days, only 147,700 travelers have used train services from Beijing to various regions.

Based on monitoring at Beijing Station, which is one of the largest integrated transportation centers in the capital, it is also not as busy as usual. There are no queues or crowds of potential passengers that usually occur during the Lunar New Year holidays.

The same is true of air and land travel by bus. All of them experienced a drastic drop compared to last year's Chinese New Year holidays.

However, one figure has gone up: China's box office receipts broke the previous day's record on the first day of the Metal Ox Year, bringing in over US $ 269 million.
