David Michery Unfolds The First-ever EV Crossover SUV by Mullen Technologies

The EV segment is quickly replacing the age-old fossil-fuel-powered vehicles globally. Commercial and personal electric cars have become a reality due to cutting-edge technology, seamless integration between software and hardware, and state-of-the-art innovation in building long-lasting batteries. It is safe to assume that the automotive industry's future belongs to EV-powered cars because of these promising developments.

The cons of fuel-powered cars outweigh their pros. Yes, arguably, a gasoline car can cover an extensively long road trip compared to an EV car. However, what many fail to realize is that the limitation lies not in the technology but in the absence of charging stations compared to fuel stations. The world is slowly inching towards electric vehicles, and it can take decades to embrace battery-powered vehicles fully. While entrepreneurs around the world are busy making this dream come to reality as soon as possible. David Michery is another ambitious EV automaker who is edging to revitalize American car culture by introducing his first-ever all-electric crossover SUV.

David Michery is a Southern California-based owner of a privately held American electric car company called Mullen Technologies. He acquired the company as Mullen Motors in 2012 and re-branded it as Mullen Technologies in 2014. David's Mullen Technologies has other stakes, including Mullen Automotive, Mullen Energy, Mullen Auto Sales, Mullen Funding Corp., and CarHub.

David is also a former music producer, and he gave us some hit tracks as an executive producer in 1998, such as Nate Dogg's Me & My Homies. By 2012, he was a producer of DMX's Redemption of DMX, which added another feather to his hat. David has previously produced artists like 2Pac, Warren G, Snoop Dogg. Next year, he became the founder of Break Away Entertainment and owned an American Music Corporation.

David is gearing up to release an all-electric crossover SUV called 2P6 (formerly MX-05) in the US in 2024. He is advancing his plans year on year with significant business initiatives, including acquiring mergers, setting new facility and finalizing the product design. David's company Mullen Motors recently leased an 820,000-square-foot facility in Memphis, Tennessee. This business venture will see an investment of $336 million, creating more than 800 high-paying jobs in the region.

Based on the lease agreement, David's Mullen Technologies will spend $299 million of that investment on equipment that will manufacture nearly 100,000 electric vehicles. Moreover, the company will spend about $26 million in the renovation of the building, which Nike vacated five years ago.

On March 11, 2021, David purchased another facility in Tunica, Mississippi, to finalize the design stage of the 2P6 crossover SUV. This facility of over 100 acres is located 50 miles away from Memphis, Tennessee, and will provide advanced engineering and manufacturing capabilities for Mullen Technologies. The same year, he erected a Manufacturing facility of 817 thousand square feet for the assembly of the EV suv Ottava 2P6 that we before knew as MX 05.

2P6 crossover SUV is currently undergoing a design stage in California. According to Mullen Technologies, this battery-powered vehicle will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds only. Achieving this target requires the body of the vehicle to be aerodynamic and lightweight. This is why the design stage takes more time so that the final product may come closer to the hypothetical numbers.

Once Mullen Technologies finalizes the design, the company will build its initial prototype vehicles at its newly acquired facility in Tunica, Mississippi. This facility of the company is dedicated to initial engineering development and certification related to 2P6 based prototypes. The Tunica-based facility will conduct numerous safety tests, road tests, and crash tests to finalize a 2P6 version that can compete in the American EV segment.

In-between the time frame from building an initial prototype to large-scale production commencement, Mullen Technologies is set to install basic infrastructure over 33 months at its Memphis facility. This mass-producing site will acquire the to-be prototype designs from the Tunica facility and use high-end equipment to manufacture 100,000 electric vehicles over five years. David's both facilities are to support Mullen's manufacturing requirements of 2P6 and other future models for the next 10-plus years.

David's campaign to launch an efficient, outclass, and state-of-art crossover SUV will not only introduce a new rival in the EV segment but will create a competition where the customer benefits. Currently, Tesla enjoys the title of the top-selling battery-powered vehicles in the US. It is mainly because a) Tesla won the customers due to long-lasting battery technology b) had less to no competition in the EV industry. Many EV companies rolled out their models in sedan and SUV categories to stir the market and shake the position of Tesla. Then what makes David's 2P6 stand out from the rest?

For starters, Mullen Technologies 2P6 is designed to appeal average American household. Secondly, crossover SUV demand is peaking for the last couple of years in the automotive market, and since 2P6 comes under this segment, it is highly likely to outsold battery-powered sedan EVs.

David is eyeing to outperform Tesla on both fronts by launching a one-of-a-kind 2P6 crossover SUV. As evident from the marketed 2P6's theoretical data, one can wait and watch if David's Mullen Technologies can come head-head with Tesla and other leading EV makers in the US.
