History of Muslims in Madinah

At the age of 53 years, Holy Prophet was ordered to leave Makkah and migrate towards Madinah. Holy Prophet spent 10 years of his life in Madinah and made many efforts to spread Islam in Madinah. At the time of his entrance he first decided to make a mosque for the worship of Allah. Holy Prophet tried to spread brotherhood among all Muslims. The Muslims who came from Madinah were named as Muhajir and those who were the people of Madinah were named as Ansari. Azaan and Change of Qibla:

Azan was then ordered by revelation also. First Muslims used to turn their faces towards Jerusalem for offering prayers but later Qibla of Muslims was changed. They were ordered to turn their faces towards Kabah that is in the center of earth.  

Fasting and Zakat:

Allah ordered Muslims to observe fasts in the month of Ramadan. Observing fasts gives greater reward. Allah will give the reward of fasting by Himself and Muslims know that Allah is Merciful and will give a greater reward. These are made obligatory because hunger makes a man pure. Piety is developed in a person and he starts doing everything only for Allah. 
Zakat was also considered obligatory for Muslims in Madinah that makes the economy of whole Muslim Ummah strong. In this way money transfers from rich to the poor. This step is for the welfare of poor community like that of widows and orphans. 

Jihad:

Jihad is a way to secure Islam from Non-Muslims. Non-Muslims were trying to stand against Islam and they started preparing their army. Allah ordered Muslims to do Jihad. In the plane of Badar Muslims fought against Non-Muslims because it was the order of Allah. Allah told Holy Prophet about this battle in the dream. It was the first battle of Muslims. Muslims got victory in different battles and it encouraged them to preach and spread Islam in the whole world.

Conquest of Makkah:

After becoming a power Muslims conquered Makkah and in 10 A.H Muslims were ordered to perform Hajj. Holy Prophet told the way of Hajj by his practical example. It was the first Hajj of Holy Prophet and after it Holy Prophet didn’t remain in this world therefore it was also his last Hajj. Muslims call it farewell Hajj of Holy Prophet in which he delivered his farewell sermon to all Muslims and explained the summary of Islam.  

It is the obligatory for Muslims to perform it at least once in the life. It is performed every year and a great number of Muslims from all the parts of world perform it.
