How does the user connect a new Canon Printer to Wi-Fi?

Canon printers are suitable for home as well as for business use. New models of Canon printers also allow the user to take printouts via a network. You have to connect the Canon device to your network and take printouts from your various devices. Before you connect the Canon printer to the network, you need to check for certain aspects.

1. For connecting the Canon printer via the WPS connection method
2. Your access point (router) must have a physical WPS pin
3. Your internet connection must be stable
4. The connection must be WPA secured to prevent any mishap

Unboxing Canon printer and connecting to the network

Open the Canon box and take out the printer carefully. Now place the printer and cartridge on a clean and dry surface. Check the box for the driver CD, power cord and USB cable. Remove the protective tapes from your Canon printer and cartridge. Use the power cable on the printer and turn on your printer. Now install the cartridge on your Canon and then try to connect the Canon printer to your network.

1. Press the Wi-Fi button of your Canon printer and the Wi-Fi lamp will start flashing
2. Now check the router and hit on WPS button
3. Your Canon will start checking for the network

When the printer finds the network, the lamp will become steady

After the printer gets connected to the network; you can make sure of the Canon mg3600 setup connection by printing the network settings on the Canon printer.

1. Start the Canon printer and load pages on the input tray
2. Press the Resume button until the alarm lamp of the Canon printer flashes about 15 times

Release the Resume button and the Canon printer will print the network info page. Now check the print out for the connection and SSID. If both the details are correct then your Canon printer is connected to your network correctly. After connecting the printer to your network, you have to install the Canon software on your devices. You will receive the Canon software (driver) CD with the printer. Install the drivers on the PCs you want to take printouts with. Some devices may not have a CD drive, so install the setup from the internet. You can easily download the printer setup from your Canon website. After installing the driver, try to take the printout with your device.

Standard Connection Method for network setup

Some router devices don’t provide physical WPS pins. If your router doesn’t have the physical WPS pin then you can use the standard connection method for connecting printers to the network.

1. Install the Canon driver on your computer
2. Tap on the Next button
3. A connection window will be displayed
4. Choose wireless connection
5. Hit on the Next button
6. Now select the Connect to Network option
7. Tap on Cable less setup
8. Hit the Wi-Fi button
9. Canon printer’s Wi-Fi lamp will lit Blue and power lamp        will lit Green
10. Hit on the Next button
11. Click on Wireless setup with USB cable
12. Location window will be displayed
13. Choose your region and hit the Next button
14. Select your Country and tap on the Next button

Tap on the Yes button and you will see the model name and SSID on the screen. Check the details; if correct then hit the Complete button. Now you have connected your Canon to the network. Go to the device and search for a printer. Make sure you have installed the Canon driver on the device and then try to print with your Canon. Load the pages on the input tray of the Canon printer and make sure the cartridge is filled.
