This is not entirely new knowledge. For many years already specialized chips such as the graphical processing units (GPUs) have been sitting in Nvidia and AMD graphics cards performing operations related to graphics much faster than general-purpose CPUs.

Instead of adding ever more general-purpose CPU cores, Apple has followed another strategy: They have started adding ever more specialized chips doing a few specialized tasks. The benefit of this is that specialized chips tend to be able to perform their tasks significantly faster using much less electric current than a general-purpose CPU core.

The flex-layout module of Angular has also been updated for Angular 11. Note that the version is in beta (11.0.0-beta.33), just like all of the previous ones; which is kind of funny given that it’s been in beta like forever.. What’s in a name, right? ;-)

We can now dispatch arbitrary events through TestElement using the dispatchEvent method. This is useful for events that can’t be simulated easily and also for custom DOM event handlers to be triggered. You can find some examples over there

As usual, this is a solid release. In particular, I appreciate the type safety improvements for pipes, reactive forms, and what’s coming next with the Ivy-based language service. Hopefully, the next major version should bring us even more improvements in that vein.

The stepper component now has (better?) theming support through the color input. This is true for mat-step, mat-vertical-stepper, and mat-horizontal-stepper. Thanks to the new input, we can now customize the color, which defaults to the primary one

This whole post was written using my autocorrection script and I saved at least an hour on this post alone by typing much quicker, having it correct all my typos and expand custom abbreviations into full words, thereby saving me time and strain on my fingers. When I press Win-T my currently selected sentence will be converted to title case, Win-G selects the last-typed word and searches for that term on Google — so many small quick hacks that save a great deal of time over the course of a workday.
