Inspiring Lives of Black People: How Far Have They Come

Throughout history, black people have faced numerous challenges. African-Americans have played a significant role in shaping the US. They occupy a unique place in history as diversity and inclusion. They have learned so much from the past and are looking towards a better future.

Black entrepreneurs are attaining accomplishments; they are pursuing innovative businesses and contributing to the world's progress.    

Despite all the hardships and segregation faced by black people, they have come out to be one of the most successful entrepreneurs and business holders.

Many powerful black men in history are recognized as courageous, inventive, and revolutionary African Americans. They changed history and made a great contribution to the world. They fought for their right and didn’t give up; they stood up against injustice and carved their way.

In 1940 majority of black people had minimum rights, they used to work as domestic servants, and almost no one had a decent job. They were trapped in poverty and did not reside in inner cities. 6 out of 10 women used to work as servants.

Things didn’t get better by 1959. Half of the white people said they would move if a black family is living in their neighborhood.

In 1964, the Civil Rights Act was passed, and only 18% of white people claimed to have black people as their friends. Over time black people cut the income gap about the third and start to make development in every field.

Now things have changed to a tremendous level. Almost 60% of people are doing a white color job. Black and white men and women are great friends and enjoy living near each other.

Black people have made remarkable progress over the years and are now reaching the upper ranks in economic history.

Past is filled with breathtaking stories of powerful black men in history who wanted to make a difference and bring their community out of misery.

 Here are some of the American heroes who revolutionized the history of black people

Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther was a social rights activist and Baptist in the Us in the 1950s and 60s. He organized many peaceful protests and worked for the rights of everyone.

He delivered the word to the generation that inspired them and changed their way of thinking, which changed the world. He was the force behind the Montgomery Bus Boycott. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1964. His famous speech, “I Have a Dream,” an aspirated call for peace, is considered a rhetorical masterpiece.

Phillis Wheatley

In old times, black people were not allowed to get an education and were discouraged from learning how to read and write. Phillis Wheatley, a black girl who was born in Senegal/Gambia, was kidnapped and sold into slavery.

She came out to be the first African American who published a book of poetry. She is the first black woman who wrote poems and made them published.

Frederick Douglass

He was born from a slave mother whom he saw a few times in his life and a white father whom he’d never meet. He worked so hard to escape from his harsh life; he helped other African Americans to do the same.

He wrote about his life and published multiple autobiographers about his life in slavery. He was not just a black community leader, but he never stopped fighting for his rights. He helped minorities and stood up for his community.

George E. Johnson

George E. Johnson was born in 1927 in Mississippi. He belonged to a poor family. He moved with his mother to Chicago and started working as a shoe polisher at the age of eight. He used to polish the shoes of people to earn money. 

He completed his school, and as he grew older, he went to work with a cosmetics company. He learned so much from that company, and then after leaving that company, he established his own company with the name” Johnson products” Within three years, he found great success in business and grew his business larger. Soon he becomes a multi-millionaire. He founded an independent bank in 1964.

In 1971 he became the first African American to own a company listed on the American stock exchange. He also became the first African to serve on the board of directors of commonwealth Edison the same year.

Thurgood Marshall

He was the first black US Supreme Court Judge; he was a great influential black header. He defended constitutional rights and made monumental victories in his career. He was a major contributor to the end of the Jim Crow era.

Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali, a boxing legend who made his name in and out of the ring. He went to jail for refusing to be conscripted into a war he didn’t believe. He is considered the greatest heavyweight champion of all time. He refused to fight for something he didn’t believe in.
