Lecturers and teachers know some students use repetition just to reach a word count when they don’t have enough to say. It is bad when it’s sole purpose is for the accumulation of words. Others are evidence of poor organization or insufficient knowledge.

If a sentence is better off without the repeated word, then you should consider removing it. If an article is better off without a sentence you’ve previously said, consider deleting it.

Since the fatal accident, I’ve had the courage to quit my job and leave societal expectations behind for a life of travel and writing. A courage that never existed before my loss. If this is not done in the right way, the reader may feel the point has already been made. In such a case, I use a pull quote as you see with the quotes throughout this article. They are all pulled from the body of the text and therefore repeated.
