As designers, there are multiple resources that one can make use of, from Adobe Illustrator’s Color-Blind Proof Setup, to sites like ColorBrewer that can help you select a colorblind-friendly color scheme.

If you haven’t been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of, and maybe even played, Among Us. For the unaware, the game is an online multiplayer social deduction game set in a space-themed setting, where players, or crewmates must complete tasks while trying to find the impostor among them. The imposter meanwhile can sabotage the environment, hindering crewmates from completing tasks and killing them off one by one to win the game.

But to what extent do colors impact a design or a game? To explore that, I decided to do a case study on the massively popular game Among Us, which relies on color encoding as a primary identifier for players.

See, this is the stuff they don’t tell you about when you are divorcing or divorced. That you’ll be privy to the moments when your kids, as adults, will open up the Pandora’s box that was their childhood and let you stare inside at the things you could not see when it was happening.

The process to identify an Impostor is to discuss and decide who the Impostor can be within the game through a chatbox, and vote on who the Impostor is and get them ejected from the spacecraft.

And if the claims hold up, it’s hard to see how the Windows-based ecosystem competes. Sure, the giant gaming rigs with discreet graphics aren’t scared. But the Windows-based laptops should be. How do you compete with this? As is always the case with Apple, it’s not just the hardware, it’s the software custom tailored to run on it. The only way to compete is to do the same thing. Does that mean Microsoft will need to start making their own chips for Surface machines? Well that seems a lot more likely than Intel getting into software…

Most days, I can’t shower because within 3 minutes, they are screaming at the door, and one of them has a handful of hair or giant bruise, pinch, bite marks, etc. My house is trashed 24/7. I was hanging out with my three adult children over the holiday weekend, enjoying relaxed conversation about whatever, reflecting on their childhoods mostly, and the talk made natural twists and turns, ups and downs, the way conversations do. I mostly stayed out of it as the three twentysomethings reminisced about various adventures along their pre-teen and teen years. I enjoyed hearing their easy reflections of memory after memory. But then it veered slightly as they talked about missteps — the times they remembered with their dad — and I knew all I was supposed to do now was nod.

To put these statistics in context, an all-boys school in the Home Counties of England with 1000 pupils would have approximately 100 color deficient students. 12–13 would be deuteranopes, 12–13 would be protanopes, 12–13 would have a form of protanomaly and 62 would have a form of deuteranomaly. About half of those with an anomalous condition would have a moderate to severe form of deficiency.
