Even though it took until 30, I’m quite proud to have learned this lesson so early in my life. I feel like many others live their entire lives according to someone else’s plan, Past Jason included.

Snap out of it. There’s more to life than your startup and now you can spend your time in the areas of your life you’ve neglected. I love this quote by a man who climbed higher than most entrepreneurs ever will:

That, anyway, is what the East sees. Easterners look at the West today, like much of the rest of the world, and wonder, baffled: “why didn’t they try to eliminate Covid? Why don’t they still try? Why do they keep on playing nice with it, hoping to reduce cases by a few percent this week, here or there — instead of wiping them out? Why don’t they aim for zero cases, forever, like any sane society did, as we did?”

I juggle many different priorities including my 9–5 job, writing, coffee shop work, personal goals, and relationships, but there’s one theme they have in common — they’re all things I want to be doing.

Now, I spend it on books and online courses, which are far less expensive (saving money is wonderful), and they expand my overall knowledge, helping me to earn even more money in the future.

Entrepreneurs with significantly busier schedules may need to invest in staff. Virtual assistants are surprisingly cheap and can take away low-value tasks from you to free you up for high-value tasks. The hardest part is letting go of micromanaging the assistants and learning to trust them.

The best job I’ve ever had (my current job) was with a company I had never heard of. While waiting for companies like Boeing, BMW, and Eaton to get back to me, I said, “screw it, I’ll go interview with those guys.” And it’s been 100% worth ever since.
