Harry will be in charge of helping promote mental fitness and expanding the company's list of coaches and customers. He said he had started working with BetterUp coaches and found it invaluable.

"I fit in with a really extraordinary coach who has given me good advice and a fresh perspective," he said.

BetterUp was founded in 2013 and offers a mobile application that connects people to training, counseling and mentorship programs. This service is used by more than 300 businesses including Chevron, Snap Inc, and AT&T's WarnerMedia.

BetterUp raised US $ 125 million in February, bringing its valuation to US $ 1.73 billion. The Wall Street Journal first reported the news about Harry's new role.

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, now live in Southern California. Prior to joining BetterUp, Harry had signed contracts with Netflix Inc and Spotify.

The couple, who live in California, also discussed the pressure royal life has on their mental health.
The Wall Street Journal first reported that Harry had joined the startup. At BetterUp, Harry is expected to have input in product strategy decisions and charitable contributions, and to advocate publicly on topics related to mental health, the newspaper reported.

The newspaper said BetterUp declined to comment on how much Harry would be paid.

"It's a meaningful and big role," said CEO Alexi Robichaux, quoted by the Wall Street Journal.
