QuickBooks Error 12002 When Downloading Updates

2. Go to the File
3. Open Back Up Company and create Local Backup
4. Follow instructions that appears on the screen to create a company file backup

Simple Steps to Fix QuickBooks Error 12002

Before you troubleshoot the error, close QuickBooks Desktop

Step 1: Ensure Internet Explorer is your Default Browser

• Press Windows+R to open a Run box
• Now Type INETCPL.CPL into the Run window and click OK
• Select the Programs tab and click on Make Internet Explorer as default browser

Step 2: Review Internet Explorer Settings

Sometimes because of the improper setting of Internet Explorer may also causes of this issue to the users.

• Close QuickBooks Desktop
• Press Windows+R keys to open a Run window
• Type INETCPL.CPL into the Run window and click OK
• Go to the Security tab and click on Internet icon and make sure the security level of this zone is Medium-high
• Now click on Connections tab to select LAN settings, and make sure Automatically detect settings is checked. Also, ensure that use a proxy server of your LAN is unchecked and if it’s selected, enter the respective address and port.
• Now Click OK
• Now select Advanced tab, scroll your cursor to the security section and ensure that Use TLS 1.2 is selected.
• Click OK
• Restart your computer
• After following the above two steps, you can easily update QuickBooks. If the same problem still exists, please proceed further with the below steps.

Step 3: Update QuickBooks to the Latest Release

• Close your QuickBooks Desktop
• Press Ctrl key and double click on QuickBooks desktop icon. Do not release the Ctrl key until you see “No Company Open window” on your QuickBooks.
• Now go to Help
• Then go to Update QuickBooks Desktop
• Now Select Update Now tab to the top
• Make a check on Reset Update and then click on Get Updates
• If asks, click OK
• Once Update Complete appears. Click on Close
• Now close QuickBooks
• Reopen QuickBooks Desktop, If asks to download new updates click on Yes.

Step 4: Check Security Softwares

Sometimes antivirus may block QuickBooks desktop to launch updates. We recommend you, pause it for a temporary period of time. For Example: Pause for 30 Minutes and then try to update QuickBooks or payroll, etc.

Step 5: Uninstall and Reinstall QuickBooks

If the above mentioned methods are not helpful. You Uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks on your computer.
