Craving for authentic Korean food? There's this hidden gem located in two locations in Dubai – Dubai Media City Community and Al Rigga. Shogun is one of the best Korean Restaurants in Dubai as it offers a wide spread of culinary treats and cuisines like Thai, Japanese, and Korean. Be it traditional soups, kimchi salad, sushi, or stews; this is a great option. Korea's most popular comfort food bibimbap (a delicacy made with rice, meat, spices, and assorted vegetables) is a hit.
The cherry on the cake
The highlight of this restaurant is that when you place your order, you get a surprise. Yes, they serve about 6 to 9 delectable appetizers, which are complimentary. After you have gorged on different snacks or appetizers, you could choose a dish from their Korean set menu, as that's their specialty. The crispy chicken, bimbang beef, sushi, and their bibimbap are some of their best dishes.
Review of food
Though they serve tasty Thai and Japanese dishes too, their Korean food is undoubtedly one of the best in town. Another popular item on their menu is the Tofu gigae, a stew with tofu, straw mushrooms, seafood, and beef in a rich, aromatic soup base. You get this stew with a small bowl of rice alongside, and this preparation is the best bet on a cold winter evening as it's wholesome and delicious.
The bibimbap served at Shogun is fiery at its first impression, so a word of caution here. If you do not like spicy food, then you should be careful about ordering this one. But if you like spicy food, then you must taste the spicy one. But you can choose from the two variants of bibimbap: one is the regular spicy one, and there's another non-spicy option. The non-spicy one is good too, but it surely lacks the punch and aroma of the spicy one. If you want to see their full menu and dishes, you can click here to check now.
Now talking about their service, it's quite good considering the popularity of the place. Mostly, there's a queue and waiting time to get a table on the weekends, so you might have to wait for about half an hour before you get a place in case you don't have a reservation. But the best part is that the staff is quite attentive, polite, and professional.
It's a family restaurant, and hence so it's common to find many families dining there in the evenings. Dubai Media City attracts more of a business crowd in the lunch hours, because of the offices in and around the area. But their branch in Al Ghurair Center is also quite good and isn't that crowded. Note that it is not located in the mall itself, so you should follow google maps to find the place.
The cost of dining here for two people is approximately AED 180 for the main dish and a drink. It is not one of the cheapest restaurants, but it's well worth a try. All in all, Shogun is an excellent Korean restaurant in Dubai as it offers authentic and best Korean cuisine in town.
