Switching to a New School? - Note Down These Important Points for Your Kids New School Admission

Moving to a new school can be exciting. But your kids might feel anxious and a little bit scared on the first day. After all, they’re going to be meeting new faces, talking to new teachers, and figuring out how to navigate through a whole new system. It can be difficult. 

Check Out the School 

Plenty of schools offer virtual tours of the grounds which is an ideal alternative if you can’t pay a personal visit to the school just yet. However, if you do swing by, make sure you take up the necessary precautions: wear a mask, a face shield, maybe even gloves and if you don’t like the gloves, just spray your hands often, or wash with soap and water.  

Talk to Your Kids 

The first few weeks of school can be challenging, especially with the shift to online classes this year. To make your kids’ transition to the Global Indian International School in Dubai much easier, sit down and talk to them. How do they feel? What do they like about their new school? What do they hate? Talking to your child every day after class will give you a sense of what they’re going through and tell if you ever need to step in for anything. Be sure to watch out for any signs that your child is not adjusting.

One of the most important and first things you need to do is talk to your children’s new teacher. Get a sense of who they are. And make it clear to them that if there are any problems involving your child, they should let you know right away. They shouldn’t hesitate to talk to you about anything. You’re always available for a chat or talk if it’s something that involves your kids. 

Ask for Updates

Also, be sure to reach out to your children’s teachers for updates. Sometimes, kids don’t tell their parents everything. If your kids don’t want you to find out that they’re sad or having a hard time, then following up on their progress and checking up on them by talking to their teachers will help you find out if your kids are having problems. 

Encourage Involvement 

Online classes are hard but making friends with people you’ve only ever seen through video can make it extra challenging for your kids to foster new friendships. Don’t let that get in the way. Help your children make friends by suggesting that they call their classmates or friends after class. Encourage friendly interactions and online meetups. Talk to the other parents and schedule online playdates. 

Be Patient 

If your kids aren’t ready, don’t force it. Give it time. Sooner or later, your kids will adjust. Allow them the opportunity to feel comfortable in the classes, with their new classmates and teachers. It might even take months before things settle. Let that unfold naturally. Forcing your kids to be all right with the move when they aren’t feeling that way will only hurt them. Take it slowly and before you know it, they’ll be happy again with their new school.
