A basic Linear Programming problem is where we are given multiple equations. The value of one of the equations has to be maximized or minimized while the other equations are constraints. In high school, we used to plot the equations on a graph, shade the feasible region and find the value of the equation to be maximized or minimized by substituting the variables with the verticle values of the shaded region. I briefly go over this technique in the first part of the tutorial
While the developers are already working on this and a color-blind mode is already available in the public beta version, it is interesting to note the difference an inclusive design can make. This video, for example, shows the complete chaos that occurs when color and name both cannot be used as an identifier.
PuLP is a python library which can be used to solve linear programming problems. Linear Programming is used to solve optimization problems and has uses in various industries such as Manufacturing, Transportation, Food Diets etc
2. If we consider protanomaly, affecting 1.3% of the population, which makes red look more green and less bright. This type is mild and usually doesn’t get in the way of normal activities. However, in the game, it makes distinguishing between blue and purple almost impossible, and also makes pink appear purple-ish:
Protanopia is caused by the complete absence of red retinal photoreceptors. Pure reds cannot be seen, instead appearing black; purple colors cannot be distinguished from blues; more orange-tinted reds may appear as dim yellows. In the game, this has multiple effects. Players may not be able to distinguish between red and green, red and brown, between orange, yellow and lime, between purple and blue, cyan and white, and find that pink appears blue:
A simple solution would be displaying the name of the avatar’s color in brackets similar to how the name of the player is displayed. While this would take some tweaking to display both player name and color name elegantly, it could be possible solution.
I chose Among Us for a case study as the game is increasing in popularity day by day, and hence has a large audience. This should make testing color-blind support easier, and so I’m keen on seeing how the Among Us developers will be addressing this.
Using additional identifiers for players, like this technique Uno used incorporating ColorAdd, a color identification system for color-blind people. Similarly, different colors in Among Us could have symbols attributed to them, allowing easier identification. The symbols could be shown with the avatar’s name or on the avatar itself.

Deuteranopia affects hue discrimination in a similar way to protanopia, but without the dimming effect. In the game, it has similar consequences to protanopia, except that players may find pink appears blue/greyish:

Monochromacy, also known as “total color blindness”, is the lack of ability to distinguish colors (and thus the person views everything as if it were on a black and white television); caused by cone defect or absence. This makes it almost impossible to distinguish between any of the colors, and allows players to be distinguished based on the luminance/brightness of the color of their avatar alone:
The most common color vision deficiency would be some form of deuteranomaly, or green-weak vision affecting ~5% of the population. It makes green look more red. While this has no major impact in real-life, it does make it almost impossible to distinguish between blue and purple in the game:
4. Tritanopia is a very rare color vision disturbance in which only the red and the green cone pigments are present, with a total absence of blue retinal receptors. Blues appear greenish, yellows and oranges appear pinkish, and purple colors appear deep red. In the game, players might find it difficult to distinguish between orange and pink, purple and black, blue and green, lime and cyan, and yellow and white:
