Fox News host Greg Gutfeld, for example, huffed, “When you pick an all-women team, what you’re saying, quite clearly, it’s about gender and not competence. You’re meaning to tell me you couldn’t find one dude, one dude in D.C.?” Gutfeld, who’s made headlines in the past for insinuating that his female co-host was giving men erections and “joking” that a female fighter pilot wouldn’t know how to park her plane, went on to chide the Biden-Harris picks as a pure “virtue signal.”

Being a wage slave means you are stuck doing a job solely for the money. You can’t quit, because leaving would have terrible consequences for you and your family. For example, in America, leaving your job not only means a loss of income but can also mean losing your healthcare coverage as well.

Since we can’t see the future, there is no reason to suppose that one exists for each particle history. I propose that, in fact, none exists for any particle history and that the future is constantly being written out of the present as time itself expands into the 5th dimension.

To avoid long-term wage slavery, workers who want to leave their jobs need to have options. They need to have an alternative to their current situation that doesn’t involve going hungry (or going without basic necessities). Here are a few routes I can see, based on current trends.

In this interpretation, each world has a past but no future. They all abruptly stop at the present moment and the universe moves on to the next world. Thus, MWI breaks down. We only ever inhabit one world at a time. Dynamic histories makes more sense in this interpretation as well because history is indeed changing from moment to moment.

What this means for us is that, unlike in MWI, each of us has a unique self that moves along the wavefront of the present moment. While our past may not be precisely fixed as it appears to be in classical physics, we do not experience a splitting of worlds. Rather, each world represents a moment in time.

We may also agree to temporarily take on jobs we dislike on our way to the next rung up the ladder. After high school, I was a busboy at a tortilla joint on nights and weekends to make extra cash. It was a miserable job that I did just for the money, but I quickly looked for something with less dishwashing and margarita lime-cutting as soon as I had something to show on my resume. But working a crappy job for a while is different from being trapped in one.

During the pandemic, many workers, like meat-packers, have little choice but to put themselves at increased risk of catching the virus while on the job. Tens of millions of Americans (and likely billions worldwide) are trapped doing jobs they hate but can’t leave.

To see why, imagine now that, instead of particles sweeping out a 2D sheet of time and worlds, each “world” represents a different present moment. Particles flow from moment to moment and world to world riding the expansion of the temporal wavefront. As the present moment changes, history underlying the present can also change randomly as each present moment represents a different world with a different history.

In a 4D universe governed by Einstein’s and Schroedinger’s equations for gravity and quantum mechanics both ideas cannot be correct. Yet seemingly they are. Time is a road and a flow.

What this means for us is that, unlike in MWI, each of us has a unique self that moves along the wavefront of the present moment. All of this, of course, can be made rigorously equivalent to quantum theory. Indeed, stochastically evolving histories of particles is one of many computational methods for solving quantum equations (called the stochastic or Langevin/Fokker-Planck approach and championed by a Bell Labs scientist named John Klauder in the early ‘80’s).

If you’re doing something you don’t like for free, it’s drudgery; that’s just part of life. It’s not necessarily enjoyable, but we have to fold the laundry and do the dishes.

Every job involves doing some tasks we don’t enjoy. A job doesn’t have to be perfect all the time to be a good job. As long as there are reasons other than “my family may become homeless” that keep you coming back, it’s not wage slavery. Enjoying the camaraderie with colleagues, riding the goods and bads, or enjoying other perks, can make a job honorable and worthwhile.

Imagine the present moment as a wavefront (like that of a huge explosion) an expansion of time itself, but, if time is expanding, it must be expanding into something else. If we attribute that something else as a 5th dimension, it is not merely a dimension but also a marker of the present moment. That is, we in the present live on the expanding three dimensional surface of the present of a four dimensional surface of history in a five dimensional universe.
