Bayern 14 points clear after win at Mainz

Two goals from Mario Mandzukic helped Bayern Munich to a 3-0 at Mainz on Saturday to increase their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to 14 points.

The in-form Croatian striker sealed victory for the runaway leaders early in the second half with goals in the 50th and 57th minutes after Thomas Muller had given Jupp Heynckes' side the lead four minutes before the break.

The win extends Bayern's unbeaten run in the league to 11 games and gives them a tally of 51 points for the season.

Second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, who could only manage a draw against Freiburg last weekend, face reigning champions Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.

Bottom-of-the-table Greuther Fuerth recorded only their second victory of the season with a shock 2-1 at Schalke.

New loan-signing Michel Bastos scored on his debut for the home side but it wasn't enough to stop Schalke slumping to defeat. The Brazlian's 47th-minute effort was canceled out five minutes later by Felix Klaus before Serbian striker Nikola Djurdjic scored at the death to hand Greuther Fuerth a first win since August.

Fellow strugglers Hoffenheim also bagged three points on Saturday, beating Freiburg 2-1 -- a win which lifts them to 16th in the table, one place ahead of Augsburg who drew 1-1 at Wolfsburg.

Dusseldorf climb to 13th after a 3-1 against Stuttgart who remain in 12th place.
