A Wedding Hall in Cambodia Becomes a Covid-19 Emergency Hospital

Cambodia on Sunday, April 18, 2021, began constructing thousands of beds to treat Covid-19 patients in several halls, which are used for weddings. This emergency hospital is to anticipate a wave of patients infected with the corona virus in the country.

Cambodia has so far been able to control the corona virus outbreak. Cambodia is included in the list of countries with a low number of coronavirus infections.

Earlier this week, the Cambodian Government converted the wedding hall of the Koh Pich Convention & Exhibition Center into an emergency hospital with about 1,800 beds for patients.

The capital Phnom Penh and a satellite district there will be under lockdown on Thursday, April 15, 2021 for the next two weeks. This policy was taken in order to suppress the corona virus outbreak.

Under the lockdown, most Phnom Penh residents are asked not to leave their homes. They can only leave the house to work, buy groceries or seek treatment.

# There is a Covid variant, Hong Kong closes flights from India, Pakistan and the Philippines
 Hong Kong will suspend flights from India, Pakistan and the Philippines starting April 20 for two weeks after the new Covid-19 mutant variant N501Y was detected in Hong Kong for the first time.

The Hong Kong government last week expanded a vaccination scheme for the first time to include those aged between 16 and 29, as it wants to increase demand for vaccinations.

Airlines affected by the Hong Kong ban on travelers from India, Pakistan and the Philippines include airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines, Vistara and Cebu Pacific.

Thailand Prepares Emergency Hospitals to Treat Covid-19 Patients

Authorities in Thailand have set up a number of emergency hospitals to deal with a surge in the number of coronavirus infections. Thailand has also set up facilities to treat Covid-19 patients without symptoms.

Earlier on Friday, April 16, 2021, Thailand reported its fifth highest daily case of Covid-19 in the country. Currently Thailand is treating around 10,461 positive patients with Covid-19. This condition puts Thai health workers under pressure.
Thailand has set up more than 20,000 beds to treat Covid-19 patients in hospitals - emergency hospitals scattered across the country. Among other emergency hospitals, the use of meeting halls and sports venues.
Hotels and hospitals have now partnered to set up emergency hospitals to treat Covid-19 patients without symptoms.

The Thai Ministry of Health explained that there are currently around 5 thousand beds in 23 hotels provided to treat Covid-19 patients. Of that number, 2 thousand beds are already occupied. It is planned that more than 7 thousand beds will be prepared to treat Covid-19 patients.
