Joe Taslim was lined up as Sub-Zero in the Mortal Kombat film . His dangerous appearance is shown in the latest Mortal Kombat trailer.
So far, the character Sub-Zero is known to be able to create ice which he uses as his strength against opponents. As the name implies, which means 'below zero' the power to create ice is what he relies on.

A little bit of Joe Taslim's appearance as Sub-Zero shows how he spreads threats. He made the ice into pieces of sharp objects which he scattered marking his presence that could not be underestimated.

So says director Simon McQuoid, the Aussie commercial helmer making his first feature film with quite the high-profile pic. Warner Bros has unveiled a behind-the-scenes featurette for upcoming video game adaptation Mortal Kombat, hyping up the characterisation and spectacle, and promising fans that they’re in for something special.

The latest Mortal Kombat film will focus on the feud between Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Cole Young becomes a new character in the story who is connected with one of the two iconic characters.

His presence is said to replace Johnny Cage, who is currently absent from the Mortal Kombat film.

This second trailer also features a row of other characters in more detail. They include Kano who releases laser beams from his eyes, Liu Kang who shows off his fire magic and Raiden who prepares all warriors for battle.

The tournaments that Outworld and Earthrealm will face are very important. Outworld must win ten consecutive wins in Mortal Kombat to gain Earthrealm attacking abilities.

If in the first trailer, the focus is on the appearance of Sub-Zero and Scorpion, this second trailer shows Earthrealm warriors getting ready for the match against Outworld. The moment is shown showing the fight between Cole and Goro is shown in a little more detail.

Mortal Kombat will be released in the near future. The film, directed by Simon McQuoid, will be released to theaters and broadcast via HBO Max on April 16, 2021.

“This is more than just seeing a movie produced,” says co-writer Greg Russo. “This is seeing something that I’ve been passionate about my whole life, finally come to the screen.”

Fingers firmly crossed for this Australian-US co-production, produced by James Wan and featuring an ensemble that includes Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada.

One thing’s for sure, they aren’t holding back on the violence and gore synonymous with the game franchise. In Australia, the film has been rated R18+ for “High impact violence,” which is basically as high as the country’s ratings get for film violence. In the US, it’s been “Rated R for strong bloody violence and language throughout, and some crude references.”

Mortal Kombat will be in Australian cinemas on April 22nd and gets a theatrical and HBO Max release in the US on April 23rd.
