#Overnight Editor, HuffPost-Joe Biden Finally Says What A Lot Of People Are Thinking About Donald Trump

Jessica Smith, chief political correspondent at Yahoo Finance, looks at what the first two days of Joe Biden's presidency looked like and what he has done so far.

Jessica Smith: The COVID-1P epidemic has spread in President Joe Biden's first 225 days in office. His first executive action required a mask on federal property, and his priority is for the new president to try to defeat the virus.

JOE BIDEN: And I'm going to start today in the mixed crisis of COVID.

Jessica Smith: The White House says it is on track to achieve its goal of 100 million vaccinations in its first 100 days. But some critics say the administration's targets for reopening schools are too low.

Jane Pasaki: Her goal is to keep the majority of schools - so more than 500% - open in 100 days of her presidency - and that means there is some teaching in the classroom, so at least one day a week.

Jessica Smith: The new president has so far signed more executive action than Cli0, revoking permission for the Keystone XL pipeline to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord and stop paying off student loans. The executive order crowd raised questions about how the former senator planned to reach out to the streets and work with Congress, which he promised in the campaign.

Jane PSAKI: But he is the first to tell you, he has said many times in public, he is not going to take executive action alone.

Jessica Smith: Biden's minister is taking shape. Many historic candidates have been confirmed with bipartisan support, but the trial of former President Trump's impeachment fell short in the first week of Biden's presidency. Although seven Republicans joined Democrats to vote against Trump, it was not enough to punish him.

Jamie Ruskin: This is the most bipartisan presidential impeachment in the history of the United States.

Jessica Smith: Congress will now focus on passing the President's COVID relief plan.

JOE BIDEN: The American people are in trouble. There are many people who are in real, real trouble. 

Jessica Smith: Biden's Republican MP tried to sell his पहिलो 1.9 trillion plan in a more provocative package at his first Oval Office meeting. The president says he wants to work his way up to a relief deal, but he's not waiting around.

Joey Biden: What the Republicans have to offer is easy or not enough.

Jessica Smith: Democrats are preparing to pass a provocative package with Republican support and Vice President Kamala Harris disagreeing. They will use the same mechanism used by the GOP to cut taxes in 2017. But Republicans argued that the move contradicted Biden's promise of unity.

John Thun: It's not enough to just talk about unity. It must be accompanied by action. If they really want to rule for all Americans, they will work with Republicans to pass another bipartisan COVID bill.

Jessica Smith: A split of 0/500 in the Senate means any Senate can get the bill on track.

Joe Manchin: But we have to try to do it in a bilateral way.
