Patriot Shaheen Reza Noor grew up in Gokul

In the early 2010's, I was still a student at Dhaka University. My classmate Sheikh Mohammad Mohsin in the English section informed me one day that the writings of Shaheen Reza Noor in the Karcha section of Ittefaq were published from time to time. This writing is his very favorite. He said to me, you write Ittefa from time to time, do you know who this Shaheen Reza Noor is. I said, I have no acquaintance with anyone except the poet Al Mujahideen working in Ittefaq and the poet Mahadev Saha. Besides, I send my writings by post. Then Mohsin said, let's go to Ittefaq one day and meet Shaheen Reza Noor. I said, let's go one day.

Then I asked Faizul Islam of Zahurul Haque Hall, my youngest friend working in Daily Bangla Bazar, about Shaheen Reza Noor. Faizul said, this Shaheen Reza Nur is the son of martyred journalist Sirajuddin Hossain. Faizul has come to Ittefaq. He gave me many more positive news about Shaheen Reza Noor. During that time, some of my prose-verses have been published in the literary pages of Ittefaq and in special issues. Faizul said that the regular literary pages of Ittefaq are viewed by the poet Al Mujahideen and the special issues are seen by Shaheen Reza Noor. It is worth mentioning here that a couple of my articles have been published in a special issue of Ittefaq. This time the editor of these special issues found a reasonable reason to meet our desired Shaheen Reza Noor.

One day I went straight to Ittefaq building. I don't remember whether Faizul or Mohsin was with me. We are two decades younger than him and he was in his forties then. Before we introduced ourselves to him, he said, "Brother, tell me what you are here for." I said, no use, I have come to greet you. He said, so, then boss tea. Then he said, who are you, what do you do. We introduced ourselves. Then he said, you can send writing. I said, I send the text, it has been printed. He said, that's right. Then he asked my name again. When he heard my name, he said, "Yes, yes, I have printed your writing." Send more text.

This was the first conversation with him. After that there were two more meetings. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he had to run abroad for treatment. I used to get news from Faizul. In the meanwhile, I am also pulling the grindstone of life here and there. At this stage, I still remember a saying I heard from Shaheen Reza Noor in the first conversation, ‘The life of a journalist is like a dog race. Dogs only know how to run, they don't know how to walk. That's right.

And Shaheen Bhai has been acquainted with such a life since his birth. Because his father is a martyred journalist Sirajuddin Hossain. Shaheen Reza Noor has grown up watching the life of a journalist. Growing up, he built himself in such a life. Journalism he has done with love, out of responsibility. This responsibility is for the country and the people, for the liberation war, for the retention and excellence of the free mind. He has left his mark on words, deeds, writings and lifestyles. And he built the foundation of such a personality by seeing his father.

It may be mentioned here that three rare Bengali scholars returned to Calcutta who set a unique precedent in the history of Bangladesh in their respective fields. One of them is Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, the other is Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The last one is the martyred journalist Sirajuddin Hossain. Shilpacharya was born in 1914, Bangabandhu in 1920 and Sirajuddin Hossain in 1929. They were of the same generation, despite the age difference, they had friendly relations with each other like friends. Bangabandhu was at the center. On his return from Calcutta, Shilpacharya laid the foundation of art and craft education in Bangladesh. He set up the infrastructure to spread his message and build a lasting heritage. He also took cooperation from Bangabandhu. On the other hand, Bangabandhu gave birth to the whole country and made it independent. Sirajuddin Hossain, keeping close contact with Bangabandhu, observed the events of the history of the birth of Bangladesh and presented his essence in the newspaper with keen foresight. He had a deep mentality of time and politics. We have a common proverb in Tangail, "If you do, you will understand Hamidpur". Journalist Sirajuddin Hossain understood Bangabandhu's politics so deeply from 1947 to 1971, he left his mark in the newspapers.

Shaheen Reza Noor inherited this same quality. Despite having close contacts with Bangabandhu's family members, Shaheen Reza Noor did not have the taste and personality to seek material excuses for his various excuses or to seek the path of rewards, positions and titles. He was a detached, reclusive, patriotic man.

Despite his literary prowess in reading, comprehension, and analysis, he was not a rhetorical scholar, or an intellectual who was bent on giving a shit to the nation. He is a full-fledged pitcher of the whole period of 'empty pitchers are more than bad'. It was inspiring when Shaheen Reza Noor used to speak as an invited special speaker on a national day in the presence of Sheikh Hasina in Kalevadra at a time when the noise pollution of empty jokes and talk shows was exaggerated; Deep thought provoking. When he was called to a discussion on Doordarshan, he spoke with sincerity, elegant words and strong reasoning, and with sufficient data. Shaheen Reza Noor was the exact opposite of the shameless pressure of the average talk show host.

When I came in contact with him, I thought he was an earthy man in face, in breath, in faith, in movement, even in writing.

Man.

He studied at the university in Bengali and English. The hands of the translator were skilled, had the courage to write, had the determination to deal. An example of such determination is the journey of Projanma Ekattar, a parallel caravan of the 1971 Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee. He was the life president of Generation 1971. But there was never any extra evil in using or showing this position or title. It was part of his job or responsibility. And that responsibility was to bring to justice the 1971 anti-independence Razakar al-Badr, the enemy of humanity. To explain such responsibility, Shaheen Reza Noor can be highlighted in the following words: "He who will grow you will grow in Gokul".

After the martyrdom of Baba Sirajuddin Hossain in 1971 and the assassination of the Father of the Nation in 1975, this was the fate of Shaheen Reza Noor, the generation of the Liberation War. He grew up in Gokul in the absence of his father. He has left his signature in words and deeds all his life. He finally testified in court against the war criminals. And for this reason he was physically attacked by the enemies, but did not give up, did not stop. Gokul had patriotic people like Sheikh Hasina and Shaheen Reza Noor, so it was possible to bring the monster razakars of 1971 to justice.

But in return Shaheen Reza Noor did not calculate the personal profit loss. When he met me, he was in his forties. And he left us at the age of 7. I have seen him for almost two decades and he was work crazy. He did not lose faith in life even after facing cancer twice.

Even two days before his death, he published the last article of his life on bdnews24.com, warning about the dangerous grip of Jamaat-Shibir politics.

We did not know or know such a person. We did not evaluate him.

How many prize list pages spread. The living room of the medal and title exhibition room and the stairs lead to the outer door. On the other hand, Shaheen Reza Noor is a man of the opposite genre with a self-respecting secret.

In order to achieve the standard of journalism passed by the martyred journalist Sirajuddin Hossain, he got an environment of immense responsibility and inspiration at the level of 1947-1971. He is an institution in the history of journalism in Bangladesh, a philosophy of journalism. And the practical example of that philosophy was his son Shaheen Reza Noor, our Shaheen brother.
