Actress, singer and producer Elaine Paige also expressed her condolences for the news.

"Truly sad news for England. My condolences to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, who lost her husband and life partner, and my children, grandchildren and the entire royal family," wrote Elaine Paige.

Previously, the news of Prince Philip's death at the age of 99 was conveyed by the British Empire through its official social media account.

In March, Prince Philip was treated for infection and underwent heart surgery. He was also involved in a road accident some time ago while driving a car alone.

Prince Philip, who is of Greek blood, married Queen Elizabeth in 1947. He was instrumental in the modernization of the British Empire after World War II. In addition, he is also considered to be a beloved figure in the palace

As a result of the pandemic, Prince Philip's funeral will not have a state ceremony

The late husband of British Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, will not be buried in a state ceremony due to restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"His Majesty's body will be buried at Windsor Castle ahead of the funeral in the Chapel of St George. This is in line with the habits and wishes of His Majesty," said the College of Arms, the institution that regulates the ceremonies of the British Empire, Friday (9/4) quoted from REUTERS.

"Funeral arrangements have been revised in light of the circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and are regretfully asked that the public does not attempt to attend or participate in any event to replace funeral (ceremonies)."

Previously, Philip spent four weeks in hospital earlier this year treating infections and undergoing heart surgery, but returned to Windsor in early March. He passed away on Friday, two months before his 100th birthday.

The College of Arms added that Prince Philip's body would lie at Windsor Castle ahead of his funeral in St George's Chapel.

"This is in line with custom and with the wishes of Her Majesty (Queen Elizabeth II)," continued the College of Arms.
The College of Arms said, the decision was made based on careful consideration considering that the pandemic was still spreading.

"And regretfully, we are asked that the public does not attempt to attend or participate in any event related to the funeral procession," concluded the College of Arms.

No State Ceremony at Prince Philip Cemetery

It is certain that Prince Philip's funeral will not be carried out by using a state ceremony. This was done because of social restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic in the UK. The College of Arms, which regulates ceremonies for the British Empire, said Queen Elizabeth's late husband would be buried at Windsor Castle ahead of the funeral in St George's Chapel. "Setting the cemetery has been revised in view of the circumstances relating to the pandemic Covid-19, and regretfully requested that people do not seek to attend or participate in any event to replace the (ceremonial) funeral," said College of Arms,

As is known, Philip spent four weeks in hospital earlier this year for treatment of infections and undergoing heart surgery. After carrying out the operation he returned to Windsor Castle in early March.

The prince's charm and reluctance to tolerate people he deems stupid or sycophants earned him respect by some British citizens. However, for a number of people, his sometimes rude attitude has made him also in the spotlight by the public.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Prince Philip has helped guide the royal family and monarchy so that they remain a very important part of the balance and happiness of British national life.

"To His Majesty and his family, we must pay attention to the nation today. For they have lost not only public figures who are very loved and highly respected, but also loyal husbands and fathers, grandparents, who are proud and loving, and, in some cases. last year (also being) great-grandfather, "said Johnson.
