Maverick Viñales hopeful of a good result
After four rounds, Viñales ranks third in the championship standings, 16 points behind the first. The 12th rider's goal for this weekend is to revisit the French grandstand, of which he has fond memories.

In 2017, the Spaniard secured a close premier class victory there with Yamaha , and a year earlier he claimed a third place in the race. Several weeks ago what many of us expected became official, and it is Valentino Rossi's team on the MotoGP grid from 2022 . An agreement that for the moment goes for a long time, and will last up to five years. The commitment was carried out in style, joining forces with the company Tanal Entertainment Sport & Media. In addition, with Aramco as the main sponsor of the project: “Aramco Racing Team VR46”. Until now, not much more information is known and we are still waiting to know what brand the team will race with.

Even so, from the structure of Valentino they are trying to make the pieces fit together until they have everything in its place. They do not forget the VR46 Academy, one of the foundations of the project. Alberto Tebaldi, the CEO of VR46, has spoken in an interview with GPOne about the new team that they have in their hands and that will finally embark fully in the premier class. This 2021, the VR46 has already made the leap to MotoGP with Luca Marini, but now it is the final step.

The initial idea was reflected in Moto3, then Moto2 ... and in mind MotoGP was still far away. Now it is a new fact to face. “We know that it is a different commitment, we need to structure ourselves . But the idea is starting to take shape and we are trying to understand how to do it by talking to former partners like Sky and Monster. At the same time two years ago I met the architect Marco Bernardini, a trusted person of the Saudi prince for projects related to Saudi Vision 2030. We began to ponder the possibility of creating a VR46 theme park like the one at Ferrari in Abu Dhabi. We talked about synergies, until we thought that it would be ideal to share this commitment also on a sporting level ”.

And that same idea was continuously monitored, which led to the sponsorships and the launch of a long and complicated collaboration. The Italian media asked Tebaldi about the possibility of an exclusive "Aramco Racing Team VR46" for Academy riders, but they declined . The brand with which they decide to run the World Championship will also have an influence on the choice of riders.

“It is not necessarily the case. We hope that our riders have such a level to enter, otherwise it will be open to all. Much will also depend on the bike we choose. We know that even the manufacturer may have their needs when it comes to pilots. It will work in a similar way to other satellite teams with, of course, an eye on our pilots in whom we are investing a lot. "

But the manufacturer is still unknown, although they say it will be known soon. “We want to get down to work. There will be much to do. I hope that by the Le Mans GP, Mugello at the latest, we can make the announcement. I can only say about it that I am convinced that Aprilia has a competitive bike, they have done a great job and I am not sure that Suzuki has two more bikes. What will guide us in the choice will be the type of support that the manufacturer can offer us ”. 

As the project progresses, Valentino Rossi faces a difficult MotoGP season with the Petronas Yamaha. So far, the results have not finished coming, although the good news comes through this new path. “ Vale has always lived it differently. He is a Yamaha rider. He is going his way and so is the team. The plan to enter MotoGP was already in place. And he is happy because we live for this, and it is wonderful to be able to compete in MotoGP.
