Synopsis LUCA: El lawyers, Looking for the identity of the Super-Human

Directed by Enrico Casarosa, it develops a plot of growth and friendship.

Gelato, spaghetti, Vespa . The triad that fascinates young Luca when he looks out into the human world for the first time: a picturesque fishing village, in the middle of Italian summer . Who could. Of course Luca looks out from the sea, which is his home, because he is a sea monster . And that the charming little town specializes in fishing, precisely, of its kind.

It is the universe in which the director Enrico Casarosa , together with the Pixar team, develops his story of growth ( coming of age ) and friendship . The filmmaker gets to direct his first feature after a remembered and poetic short film, La Luna , from 2011. There was also a baby at the center of the short story. A boy who advanced in the fishing boat, together with his father and grandfather, to discover, in the middle of the sea night, a secret linked to the shape of the Moon.

In both La Luna and Luca , secrets are linked to difference . In the plain of normality, someone does, or represents, something that is outside the rule. Here, as in Finding Nemo , the youngest of a family of sea monsters does the wrong thing, out of curiosity. When he takes his body out of the water, he becomes a boy; when it gets wet again, in a being with scales, fins and a tail. Luca meets Roberto, who has been living an amphibious and semi-clandestine life for some time. Through Roberto, the Vespa, gastronomic pleasures and the possibility of adventure

The only thing he should avoid is coming out of the closet, discovering himself for what he is, because in the town his kind are persecuted just because: for different. In Luca, which opens in Pride Month, the references to tolerance and acceptance of all forms of love - which are also friendship, in this case between two boys - are as explicit as they are loaded with tenderness. If we are also that which does not come to the surface, nobody should have to hide it.

It is true that the poetic flight with which the films of Miyazaki and the Studio Ghibli threads fantastic elements, in realistic stories, with a level of surprise that Luca does not reach is missing . Also the sensation of a lighter story, less lasting in the memory than Toy Story 2, or 3. But, beyond an argument, and of a rather conventional narrative, without ambition for great originalities (it reminds too much of The Little Mermaid , to Ponyo , among other films that he honors and quotes), in that tenderness with which he looks at his vulnerable characters there is a lot of emotion . And of beauty .

Disney has prepared some incredible sand sculptures of Luca and Alberto that it has placed next to the Fontana Di Trevi of the Europa Park, in Madrid.

On June 18, Luca , the latest animated film made by Pixar and which arrived exclusively on the Disney Plus streaming platform, premiered . The film transported us to the idyllic fictional town of Italian inspiration called Portorosso , where Luca , Alberto and Giulia dreamed of winning a competition to get a Vespa that would eliminate the borders of the known world.

Disney has prepared another surprise for us related to Luca in the Europa Park in Torrejón de Ardoz , in Madrid. With more than 108 tons of sand, they have recreated even the smallest detail of Portorosso in an impressive display of sand sculptures . We can see in the foreground Luca and Alberto in their original forms of sea creatures with their fins and body full of scales, and in the background the seagulls, the houses and the mountains of the town.

Luca's sculptures will remain standing until July 18, and we can find them in front of the recreation of the Fontana Di Trevi . If you take a walk in the park, in addition to seeing Michelangelo's David , you will be able to find other scale reproductions of different emblematic monuments of Europe, such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin or the Acropolis in Athens.

If you really liked the film and want to continue discovering things about it, take a look at the interesting interview we did with Jordi Oñate, a Spanish animator who worked on this film and on many others in the company, although it started with El Ratoncito Pérez and with Harry Potter .
