We've already seen drama and brilliant horse racing in the first two days of the Grand National Festival.

Now it's time for the big race of the three-day event as and all the action from Aintree is available to watch on TV and online with ITV Racing and Racing UK.

The first race of the day is scheduled for 2.25pm with the main event due to start at around 5.15pm.

The 2020 Grand National was held virtually with Potters Corner winning the simulated race, but it's back to real life this year with the main event at 5.15pm on Saturday.

Thursday's races saw Manchester United legend enjoy a Liverpool hat-trick as a co-owner of Protektorat, Monmiral and Clan Des Obeaux.

The second of three days of the Festival on Friday however was overshadowed by the death of the Duke of Edinburgh a few hours before the first race at 1.45pm.

Races took place as planned with tributes paid to the Duke in the form of a two-minute silence, messages on the course's big screen and black armbands worn by the jockeys.

It has been confirmed Saturday's Grand National will also still commence despite the death of Prince Philip.

This looks like being the “decider” between Thyme Hill and Paisley Park, the 2019 Stayers’ Hurdle winner, as their head-to-head currently stands at one win apiece so far this season.

Thyme Hill was off the mark early on with a victory in the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury in November, but Paisley Park turned the tables – by a neck – in the Grade One Long Walk at Ascot a month later. This is a first visit to Aintree for Thyme Hill, but Paisley Park was successful in a handicap over two-and-a-half miles here back in October 2018, at the start of a seven-race winning streak which culminated in his famous victory in the staying division’s championship event at the Festival.

Thyme Hill was ruled out of this year’s Festival just a few days beforehand with a minor muscle problem while Paisley Park came up short in an attempt to become the first horse ever to win back the Stayers’ crown. It could be argued that this track might not play to his strengths but the quickening ground may be more to his liking, and a fascinating head-to-head is in prospect (with Roksana far from out of it either on her form in a Grade Two over three miles at Ascot in February).
