Both Pfizer and Moderna coronavirus vaccines require two shots: a single dose, followed by a booster.

The initial shot should initiate the production of antibodies to the virus for the first time. As long as we have a booster, our body should have an even stronger immune response. This explains why some people reported more side effects after their second shot.

But for people who have already had COVID-19, the process seems to be going differently. An emerging body of research suggests that people who have already caught a coronavirus infection make a stronger immune response to their first shot than those who have never had the disease. This may mean that people with a history of infection do not need a second shot to protect them enough from getting sick again.

A new study by UK researchers found that antibody levels were roughly the same among uninfected people who received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine and people who had COVID-19 but which have not yet been vaccinated. Then after people taking COVID-19 took their first shot, their antibody levels were 140 times higher than their maximum antibody levels before the vaccine.

In other words, the main dose acted more like a booster.

Another new study found that people who previously had COVID-19 made a stronger T-cell response to a single shot of the Pfizer vaccine than vaccinated people who never got sick. Like antibodies, T cells have memory powers that can help the immune system recognize and re-attack the coronavirus. 

But these two studies found only a small group of carved healthcare workers - a total of 123. For this reason, many scientists are wary of prescribing anything other than standard two-dose resin. .

“I’m a big supporter of the right dosage and the right schedule, because that’s how similar studies have been done,” said The New York Times Maurer Elena Botzaji, an immunologist at Beller College of Medicine.

Even before two new studies emerged, preliminary research had begun to show that two shots may not be necessary for people who already have COVID-19.

In one study, which is still awaiting peer review, researchers at the Ikhan School of Medicine in Maina Sinai found that people with CVID-1 developed at least 10 times more antibodies after the first dose than the average person they received. Two doses of Pfizer or Modern vaccine.

Those with a history of infection also developed severe side effects after their first injection - including fatigue, headaches, chills, fever, and muscle and joint pain.

The researchers wrote that “changing the policy of giving these people only one vaccine” can save them from unnecessary pain and relieve them of the much-needed dose of the vaccine. "

Another preliminary study supports those findings - it showed that health workers who had COVID-19 had higher levels of antibodies after their first dose of vaccine than vaccinated health workers who had never been infected.

Typically, COVID-1 patients develop antibodies two or three weeks after the initial infection, Sajadi said. But it did not take long for already sick people to develop antibodies in response to the vaccine: these people showed high levels of antibodies in the first tablet of the week, elevated 10 to 14 days after vaccination.
