Storylines
USMNT: This feels like a game where more will be needed from the defensive midfield position. Will it be Jackson Yueill or is Tyler Adams going to be fit to play? That remains to be seen, but some more muscle is needed. Perhaps we see Weston McKennie drop a bit deeper to help cover, but Mexico will expect to dominate the ball and the chances. This will be Gregg Berhalter's biggest test in a long while for the U.S. with fans looking to see if he will be proactive in adapting to the match after taking a bit longer than needed to make the changes he did against Honduras.

Mexico: It was a pretty ugly display going forward against Costa Rica, and they just avoided what would have been a shocking defeat. If the U.S. gives the space they have in their last couple games, Mexico could feast if they are clinical enough. Expect Mexico to be patient and calm going forward, while also be cautious at the back with the speed of Christian Pulisic. El Tri will enter the match confident, but they know they must be a lot cleaner to take home the title.

Prediction
The title goes to Mexico thanks to a late strike by Uriel Antuna. Pick: Mexico 2, USA 1

USMNT player ratings: Horvath and Pulisic's penalty heroics decide Concacaf Nations League final in extra time
The United States men's national team won the inaugural Concacaf Nations League trophy after beating Mexico in the final in extra time on Sunday, 3-2. This game had just about everything as we saw Mexico manager Tata Martino ejected, plenty of goals, beers and projectiles being thrown onto the field, and a physical, heart-pumping 120 minutes in Denver's Empower Field at Mile High.

But how did each player perform in this one? Here are our player ratings for the match for every starter, substitute and manager.

U.S. national team defender Christian Pulisic converted a penalty kick in second half of extra time as a wild match between the U.S. men's national team turned chaotic in the waning minutes. The foul and subsequently awarded penalty led to a jam packed few minutes that had everything from dramatic goals, to manager red cards to USMNT players getting pelted with beer cans.

Pulisic dribbled the ball into the box  as Mexican defenders made some contact in the box in an attempt to play the ball. The contact was not immediately ruled a foul, but VAR initiated a review and then things began to spiral.

First, Mexican head coach Tata Martino ejected from the game for interrupting the official in his review of the play.

After the extended review, the official awarded the penalty to the United States, and Pulisic stepped up to convert, giving the USMNT the lead in final minutes. Chaotic scenes unfolded as the entire team ran to the corner flag to celebrate the late game lead, as fans began to pummel the pitch with beer and beverage containers.

During the incident, as fans through beer from the stands, Gio Reyna who had run from the sidelines with the rest of the American team to celebrate was hit by a projectile and stayed down on the field for several minutes

But the drama didn't even end there. Mexico was subsequently awarded a late penalty as well for a hand ball, but Andres Guardado failed to convert, with backup keeper Ethan Horvath (who was on the field thanks to an injury to starter Zack Steffen) making the save and the USMNT went on to win the Concacaf Nations League championship.

Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi has told L'Equipe that superstar Kylian Mbappe is going nowhere. Speculation has been rife that the France international could move on after a UEFA Champions League final defeat to Bayern Munich and semifinal loss to Manchester City over the past two seasons.

However, Al-Khelaifi has said that Mbappe will not be sold or allowed to leave on a free transfer at the end of his contract in the summer of 2022 with extension talks progressing.

"I will be clear: Kylian will be staying in Paris," said the Qatari. "We are never going to sell him, and he will never leave for free. I never give details to the press about ongoing negotiations. All I can say is that it is coming along nicely.

"I hope that we will find a common ground. It is Paris, Kylian's country and he has a mission: not just to be a football player, but to promote the French league, his country and the capital city."

Nasser al-Khelaïfi, le président du PSG, dans le dernier carré européen ces deux dernières saisons, assure que le club de la capitale n'entend pas s'arrêter là. Et annonce que le Qatar est présent « pour longtemps ».
Neymar recently extended his contract with PSG until 2025 and Al-Khelaifi revealed that Neymar's former club Barcelona tried everything to lure the Brazilian superstar back to Camp Nou and hinted that the La Liga giants' financial problems meant they could not afford the $270 million man.

"Finding an agreement with Neymar was not complicated," said the Parisien boss. "I remain convinced that he is one of the best players in the world. If the new deal took a long time, that was because of the crisis and their impact on the talks.

"I never had the slightest doubt that Neymar would extend. Even if the club you mentioned (Barca) tried for Neymar up until the very end. Obviously, we declined. I believe this club has some economic problems, but that is none of our business.

"Neymar believes in our project, loves the club, the city, and the supporters. He is totally invested and still wants to win lots of trophies here. I am proud of the relationship that we have built. He has told me that he wants to finish his career with PSG."

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has recently been linked with a potential return to former club Tottenham Hotspur, but Al-Khelaifi does not get the impression that the Argentine wants to leave the French capital outfit.

"At the end of the season, I met with Mauricio twice and both for two to three hours each," said the 47-year-old. "He never told me that he wanted to leave. He never had an attitude that suggested he wanted out. Quite the reverse. Mauricio was totally involved on all topics, and he speaks almost every single day with Leonardo about the transfer window and players."

With Georginio Wijnaldum on his way to PSG from Liverpool after Barca's free transfer bid was obliterated by Les Parisiens, AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is another target reaching the end of his contract and on the move this summer with Al-Khelaifi promising a busy window.

"Over the past two years, we have not invested a lot," he said. "That is partly down to the health crisis. However, we made one Champions League final and a semifinal. It shows that we are there. We still need to improve in certain positions, though. We have targeted them, and we know what we want to do.

"This transfer window will be more active than previous ones. We will be present, and we have ambitions for this summer."

PSG won the Coupe de France in 2019-20 after Pochettino replaced Thomas Tuchel mid-season, but Lille OSC were crowned Ligue 1 champions and Manchester City dumped the Ligue 1 giants out of the Champions League in the final four.

Georginio Wiljnaldum is set to join Paris Saint-Germain over Barcelona after the French giants made a late move for his services.

The Netherlands international was set to sign for Barcelona with his Liverpool contract coming to an end and the La Liga powerhouse had even planned his medical tests.

However, a late effort from PSG has seen Wijnaldum agree to a salary double what was offered in Catalonia with head coach Mauricio Pochettino also calling him personally to discuss his vision for the future.

Georginio Wijnaldum has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain. Barcelona have NO intention to raise their bid after they agreement ready by 2 weeks and medicals planned. 🚨🇳🇱
Barca had the chance to raise their offer for the 30-year-old but decided against upping their bid just days after completing free deals for Manchester City pair Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia.

Wijnaldum is set to move to Parc des Princes on a contract until 2024 after going back on his verbal agreement on a Camp Nou switch.

Aston Villa are on the brink of signing Emiliano Buendia, beating fellow Premier League side Arsenal to the Norwich City playmaker, sources close to the deal have confirmed to CBS Sports.

Buendia has undergone a medical in his native Argentina and needs only to complete the finalities of a deal that could eventually be worth over $50 million for Norwich, a record sale for them and a record signing for Villa.

Arsenal also made a bid for Buendia, a long-term target of theirs, but the Canaries found the offer from Aston Villa to be more convincing and the same was true of the player himself. Rather than wait for the Gunners to reach an agreement with the buying club the Argentine has opted to move to the Midlands.

Sources told CBS that Villa were more assertive and proactive in Category : news
