The purple color is produced from a species of snail native to the Mediterranean Sea.

However, getting the purple color from these snails is not easy. 

It takes a lot of energy because you have to get a lot of snails. 

It takes about 10,000 snails to produce about one gram of purple dye. The color purple ended up becoming a color that only the very rich could really use. 

In addition, producing many national flags in purple was deemed ineffective because of the very high price. 

Moreover, it takes thousands of snails to make a little dye.

There are two countries which wear purple on their national flag.

These three colors represent the people, land and clean water. Meanwhile, the plus sign or cross is a symbol of Christianity and the Trinity. The current flag of Nicaragua was adopted in 1908 and inaugurated in August 1971.

The country's coat of arms has a rainbow with a purple stripe as one of the colors of the rainbow. 

This rainbow is a symbol of independence while there is a volcanic emblem that represents the brotherhood of all countries in Central America.

WHO urges countries to donate vaccines through COVAX, it takes 10 million doses

WHO is calling for a donation of 10 million doses of the corona vaccine to ensure each country can start vaccinating within the first 100 days in 2021 or until April 10.

WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said a number of countries in a rush to obtain vaccines had caused delays in sending vaccines through the COVAX scheme to poor countries.

He urged countries with more capabilities to donate backup doses of vaccine to COVAX .

Tedros has asked all countries to start vaccination within the first 100 days of 2021, but so far, 36 countries have not received a single dose.

He said 16 countries were scheduled to receive their first dose via COVAX within 15 days, leaving 20 countries.

"Starting (vaccinating) all countries on day 100 is a problem that can be solved. COVAX requires 10 million doses immediately as an urgent stop, so these 20 countries can start vaccinating healthcare workers and their parents in the next two weeks," said Tedros quoted by AFP , Saturday (27/3).

"So today I am asking countries with vaccine doses that have WHO emergency use lists to donate as many doses as possible to help us meet that target," he said.

"Ten million doses is not a lot and it's not enough, but this (donation) is a (good) start," he explained.

The COVAX global vaccine distribution scheme ensures that 92 poor countries in the world can get the vaccine, at the expense of donors.

The scheme aims to distribute doses sufficient to vaccinate up to 27 percent of the population of 92 poor countries by the end of the year, so that there are about 2 billion doses being given.
