Summer is in full swing and there are plenty of fun things to do for the whole family in the great city of Phoenix, Arizona.
We do recommend you getting out there safely. At the moment, masks do need to be worn in the state of Arizona. But as long as you wear your masks and practice social distancing, there are many things to do in the valley of the sun.
It gets really hot in Arizona, but if you get up early or enjoy these activities in the evening, you should be fine!
Take a Hike
You MUST go hiking in the early mornings to beat the heat. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and a hat for protection. We also recommend starting off with easier hikes and to never push yourself.

Papago Park is a great area to go to for the whole family. With the Desert Botanical Garden right there, and right next to the Phoenix Zoo, there is plenty to see and you can even get a peek of the animals.
It is great family fun, an easy hike and there is even a walking path near the canal.
Desert Botanical Garden
After enjoying a nice hike around Papago Park, take the family to the Desert Botanical Garden.
The plant museum is home to over 50,000 desert plans. And this summer, flashlight tours are offered every Saturday night till the end of August.
The hands-on, self-guided nocturnal adventure is fun for all ages. You can see all of the blooming plants at night and nocturnal animals. The temperature is great during this time and you can get views of the great starlit sky.
It is perfect timing to learn something new while staying safe and enjoying the great outdoors!
There are a few nearby lakes that you can venture to so you can cool off in the sun. Tempe Town Lake and Saguaro Lake are great for paddle boarding and kayaking. Or, you can even rent a boat. It is a great place to stay cool, do some fishing, and make memories with the whole family.

Right now, the Arizona Science Center is taking the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe during the pandemic. It may or may not be closed throughout the summer, so please always check their website for the latest updates.
When they are closed, they do offer some great online resources and activities that the family can do together!
When they are open, you can inspire, educate, engage, and create educational fun! The center is keeping groups small and constantly sanitizing.
The premier science and education center has 350 hands-on exhibits, and a planetarium that is out of this world.
The summers in Arizona are known for the heat, but storms often pop up during these months as well. Monsoons are very prevalent in the summer in Arizona so make sure to always watch the weather!
