Top Super Interesting Ways to Explore Christchurch.

Christchurch is one of the most beautiful and picturesque places you will ever come along. The city has always been known for its natural beauty in the form of parks and gardens. Any friend who has travelled to Christchurch will tell you that the city leaves an aura of heritage and breezy activity in one's mind. The way the rebuilding of the city has taken place after the earthquake of February 2011 in which more than 150 people died has reinvented the city into a model for students of modern urban planning. Exploring it on personally rented vehicles can give a whole different feel to the traveller. Hopping on an electric scooter in Christchurch to soak in the city first hand is always a good idea. Some of the must-go places in Christchurch and things to know about them are discussed below.

  • The Adventure Park: The Christchurch Adventure Park has an area of about 350 hectares. It is located in Christchurch’s Port Hills. The park has absolutely marvellous views to enjoy from across the Canterbury Plains to as far as the Southern Alps. This is where your bike or electric scooter could come in handy.

It also has an option to go zip lining which is an exciting way to explore this amazing part of the globe. People who love mountain biking can enjoy a 50-kilometre ride on a downhill trail. There is also a chair lift which people who like to take it easy can take benefit from and enjoy the park in a relaxed manner.

  • Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park: These are located near Rolleston Avenue Christchurch Central and after visiting them, you will get an idea of why Christchurch is called the garden city.

One will feel that each time one sets foot in the gardens, there’s something new to behold. There is an amazing restored peacock fountain found in Christchurch’s Botanic Gardens. You can walk through the adjacent park and garden. It is a beautiful and relaxing walk to take when hanging out with friends who enjoy backpacking as much as you.

  • Quake City: It is a well built small museum, epitomizing the impact of the earthquake that hit the city which was one of the worst natural disasters that New Zealanders ever faced. It does not just fixate on the tragedy but rather the ambience of the museum is one that of hope. The museum also has an interactive built so that the visitor remains engaged. It is very important to Quake City to understand how the earthquake shaped Christchurch as we see it in today's time.

One will be able to understand the geographical causes of the February 2011 Earthquake and the bravery of those who faced and endured it.  One can also see the spire of the ruined Christchurch Cathedral and the railway station clock which have been kept to remember what was inflicted on the city.

  • Quail Island: Not far from the main city is Quail Island which can be visited by taking a ferry. There one can visit the site where shipwrecks have taken place and see the ruins. A leprosy colony where patients would be isolated historically is also located on the island and one can always enjoy the amazing view from the beach while taking a walk.

There is nothing more amazing and illuminating than having to explore new areas in new ways and Christchurch can definitely be explored in so many ways.
