Not long after, I was building a single sign on feature for our enterprise clients and I started waffling back and forth about the “best” way to write a very small function and where that should live. It was probably 5 lines, max.,I started searching for some free resources on Google. Because I had no idea at all how coding looks and feels like. I just wanted some free experience before spending any money on it. I came across the LaunchCode website. They had some free courses and practice platforms. I even didn’t have to install anything. The first course was an HTML course. As I did not have any idea and even did not talk about it to anyone, I started with HTML. When I learned to code a few lines of HTML and I saw some output, it was very thrilling. So I kept doing it. After HTML, I also took the CSS and JavaScript courses for free in the LaunchCode platform. Now I know that all was just introductory level courses.,This is very common to switch to data science. Most data scientists I know out there do not have a degree in data science. They switched from another area. I also know many people who are trying to switch from another major. I meet many people being confused if it is the right career track for them. Well, the decision is yours. Everyone may have a different journey and may have different opinions. In this article, I decided to share my own experience. For some people, it could be an interesting read and for some people, it might be helpful information.,I made it a point to not take any ideas that spawned from design work. The desired improvements were thrown on me during my daily usage of technology, or by non-designer friends. Hopefully this list can act as a more useful, practical and sustainable blueprint for making your users happier in 2021.,I made it a point to not take any ideas that spawned from design work. Miami Dade College will host it. That was Harvard University’s introduction to the computer science course. They videotape their classrooms and LaunchCode uses that for their Bootcamp. That course is also available in edx and can be taken for free using the audit option.,It had been three months since the date we were supposed to ship the first version of our app and we still didn’t have anything out. While the other members our of team were busy building and shipping features for v1, he was writing and rewriting, futzing with the file structure, and trying to get everything to be perfect. Eventually our CTO got wind of this as week after week would pass and the app still wasn’t out.,On August 4th at 6:08pm, after hearing the first boom, my mother saved herself by running out of her windowed office and into the corridor. The reflexes she built in during the civil war saved her life. When the second, near nuclear explosion went off and blew her office to pieces, she was left untouched behind the concrete.,I secretly wanted to work in the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence industry but I thought that’s probably too hard. I thought I needed more coding expertise before I can start that.,Here we learned a lot today about animations in Figma. Now you have time to practice and make your cool animations. Next time we will learn about how to share with the community and developers. We will learn how to export animations to GIF, Sprites, Frames or CSS. Of course I will tell you some new techniques and explain why you should use frames instead of groups.,Standardizing UI copy is definitely a large undertaking if you do it all at once, but if you just apply it to future designs it will actually end up saving you time — as you will not have to make up words along the way. Sure, this may temporarily make some parts of your app more inconsistent than before, but it’s better than never fixing it.,Here we learned a lot today about animations in Figma. They also teach some HTML and CSS. For the first time, I used SQL there. That experience gave me the realization that I have a long way to go before I can call myself a software developer. Yes, after LaunchCode, that was the goal. I wanted to be a web-based software developer.,I used to work under a very academic tech lead. When he wasn’t re-writing features that had been done for days or weeks to make them more perfect — from a code and file organization perspective — he was reading blog posts about design patterns and how things should be in your codebase.,Forms are annoying as it is, so seeing all letters for a Zip Code field can be the final straw for some people. This article, and this one, are good resources to use if you have a web app, but it is the same concept for native mobile apps — just make sure the optimal keyboard attribute is tied to each field.
- Note: Specifying what information to hide from logs will be easy if you can attach an attribute to each field specifying its visibility level (e.g., show, mask, hide, encrypt). If you have such a mech
