Your company’s logo is as important as its name. It’s the one thing that people would use to recognize your brand! It’s its identity! If your logo isn’t designed in a way that catches the eye and represents your brand perfectly. The right logo is like an advertisement. Just like you need to have the right video animation for your brand, you need to have the right logo animation too.  This can be a pretty difficult job, but you can make it easier by asking these 5 key questions when designing your company’s logo

 

Which logo would represent my company best?

Think of all the different types of logos you’ve seen all around you. The logos of successful companies like eBay or Facebook are designed in a way that is simple and easy to remember. They represent the simplicity of the companies behind them, and it works perfectly for them! Now, take Apple for example. Instead of having clean lettering that simply says “Apple”, they went for an actual Apple instead, and that too, one with a bite taken out of it! That was their unique feature and it ended up becoming the image you think about when you hear their company’s name! That’s the impact you want your logo to make.

There are 4 basic types of logos. “Wordmarks” logos, which are simple words or abbreviations like IBM or CNN. “Letterform” logos which are usually one singular alphabet like the “U” from Uber or the ever so iconic “M” from McDonald’s! “Pictorial” logos like the little bird from Twitter, and finally, “Abstract” logos like the Nike mark, which literally have nothing to do with the “name” of the company, become tied to the name over time.

The first thing you need to get straight is which type of logo would represent your company the best! Then, you can move on!


 

What message should the logo convey?

The logo is supposed to be the little blip that represents your brand, whether the full name of your company is mentioned or not. It should be enough to show your audience an idea of what your company is and set you apart from the rest of the competition. One great example of a logo like this is the “Baskin Robbins” logo. Baskin Robbins is famous for their “One flavor of ice cream a day” because they have 31 flavors. If you look closely, the “B” and “R” in the logo have the number “31” hidden in plain sight! It represents their infamous “31 flavors” and seeing it anywhere will instantly take you to their outlets!

You need to figure out what message you want your logo to convey. That way, it’ll be unique and it’ll be you! And that’s exactly what will set you apart from the rest of the crowd!


 

Which color theme should you go for?

Before you get to the actual design, it’s important to take a look at the competition. Make a list of all the companies that are similar to yours, or the ones you consider competitors. Omit the colors that they use from your overall options. This will make sure that people don’t accidentally confuse your logo with theirs, it needs to be poles apart! Think of how Pepsi and Coca-Cola are basically the same product, but since their color themes are so different from one another, you can easily tell the difference between them and they’re able to flourish as individual brands and products.

Generally, you should try to land somewhere on the opposite end of the color wheel from the competitor’s logo color theme. If they’re orange, go violet! If they’re using white text, try a black one instead! Switch things up entirely so you stand out!


 

Who should design the logo?

Some people are just gifted when it comes to art and design. You might be one of them too! But, here’s why you shouldn’t make this a DIY job. Unless you’re someone that’s a professional in the logo animation or logo design, it’s unlikely that you will be able to tick all the boxes designing the logo on your own.

They know the ins and outs of what makes for a good logo and even if you end up running into a dead end, you can brainstorm together and create the best logo for your brand! They can make a few drafts and with the process of elimination, you will land at the perfect logo!


 

How much should I spend on my logo?

Even though it might come naturally to you to just pick the designer that’s charging the least amount of money because we’ve always been wired to save as much money as possible, that isn’t the best idea for logo design. As we’ve talked about before, your logo represents your brand. That’s something you can’t afford to cheap out on. Go for a designer that has years of experience and is great at what they do. Someone like this won’t come cheap and that will eventually reflect in the logo you end up with! Typically, great designers charge anywhere from $2000 - $15000 depending on the complexity of the logo.

This is important because even though you could revise a logo later on in life, nothing can ever truly replace the logo that you started with, that’s forever going to be your true identity. Start with the perfect one, invest in it, and you will be able to stick with it forever!
